Ugh, no to David Wilson.
Agreed. Not Med's style of movement. She needs someone to develop strength. Wilson's best results come with someone who has an open quality to their movement, like Yuna Kim, or Jun Hwan Cha.

Because her team thought that she could win only with this, if we consider the huge WTT 2017 score.
Eteri thought that the judges would never give Alina huge PCs so fast, so she gave her a program that would make all her TES arsenal shine, so she guaranteed a Silver in the best of cases.
Evgenia is more balanced in TES and PCS, so "it was logical" back then, not to push the TES so much, because there was "enough security" in her PCs.
Eteri didn't see it coming. To others, with the issue of the injury it was impossible to put more blackloading (since the first season was tried). And Averbuk´s Fs "Leftover" with layout 1/6, was not working.
That's why they changed Daniil's EX program, Anna Karenina with the usual layout (by the way, Zhenya did NOT choose Anna Karenina, Daniil choreographed this as an EX, and recycled it as FS).
She has an excellent loop, maybe Orser sees this, of course he focuses on the SS and the quality of the jump, but a little combo with loop at the end of the season I do not think it's that much risk (;

***I think I'm one of the few people who enjoys Averbukh's choreography, I really loved the 2016, 2017 programs. It was all so unusual and contemporary. Averbukh uses elements of Contemporary Dance, and mime is part of those elements. And it's not the first time we see this in FS, Yagudin in his FS 2002 used this resource. TAT was a visionary.
I like some of his programs too. My issue with him is sloppy/strange music cuts (imo almost all Russian programs are guilty of it) and the choice of theme/story. I do not think that every program should be about global problems More from Hersh's talk with Orser about this change in his latest blog, here:

Ok Eteri's bad coaching, Averbukhs crap programs, Dudakov's bad technic is a past. But what about that person that was making the dresses? Would she keep the collaboration , what do you think? This were good at least.
Ugh, no to David Wilson.
I do believe Russian fed would have not allowed this for a random skater, the reason why they might accept it now is because Evgenia is still a top skater, she saved the three spots at worlds for Russian ladies in 2017.
)Why not? i think he and Tracy can make her skating even more fluid, the style of her programs are not that different from what Yuna used to skate: Take Medvedeva's Chopin SP for instance.
Though as Brian and David said, it's now up to her: she can finally have a say on what she wants to skate instead of just following Eteri or Daniil's decisions.
His choreography hasn't been all that since 2010. Can't think of a recent program is his I like.
I much prefer Buttle and Bourne (emphasis Bourne) to Wilson.
I don’t think it's humanly possible to skate those famous 10 runthrough per day without eating.
And they might think that Evgenia is the safer skater they have because of what happened to Alina in Milan. I'm not saying anything bad or criticize her, but the RusFed could think that Zagitova doesn't provide the same level of insurance than Medvedeva for now (she never was under the 2nd place for 3 years).
So they don't want to lose her so soon.
(My message might seem agressive towards Zagitova, but it wasn't my intention at all)
Wow didn't know she had a bad skate like this in juniors. Sooo how many years did she skate this program.hwell:

According to one of the documentaries, the hockey players .... they should not have Eteri involved in the girls diets, they can afford to bring in a nutritionist.
You're absolutely right, Evgenia is stronger mentally than Alina, she has never had such a bad outing in her entire career (including junior skating), while we can't say this is the first time for Alina

On top of that there is also the fact that the two biggest prodigies (Trusova and Kostornaya) will stay another year in juniors, so Russia still has to rely on Evgenia.
The biggest problem is at Nationals, cause we know Eteri is always preparing skaters for a potential podium sweep, all her skaters are top competitors, plus Buyanova's skaters are always pushed hard by the federation, and there is also Stanislava Konstantinova (although we don't know how she will be treated after the massive disappointment at Worlds)

I can't tell how you how surreal it is to read the article.
Out of all the skaters in the world, they are making Evgenia Medvedeva, the Russia WC Champion as the next Yuna daughter...?!!! Goodness, me, we may even see her in one of Yuna's show in Korea in the future put together by Wilson... imagine that!!?
Peace and prosperity for all. Failure is not an option. Why can't they take Karen Chen, Marin or Wakabaaa why oh why?!!!! They need more PCS than Medvedeva!!!
I have to laugh at the GOE changes of +-5 which makes GOE worth more than pre Vancouver, how convinient the skater who generally deserve the highest GOEs no longer compete THEN ISU decide change it back with a vengeance, yet who get to have her team?It makes me think had Alina been Korean, they may decide to deduct 30% jump elements for backloading with some other excuse like Imbalance. It will be interesting to see who actually get +5, there will be endless debates with the difference between +3 to +5, but when we all need to look is who they skate for, and who they are to the federation. The sports will become even more predictable ...
