I don’t know what to say. I’m heartbroken, but I can’t even imagine what Zhenya must feel. She didn’t fail anyone, the universe failed her.

It is unfortunate that Zhenya had to WD, but I cannot see any safer alternative given the situation. Her health and safety should ALWAYS come first.
And yes, I think she would have been third here if she did not have any boot problems.
So excited to see her again.
PS:
So happy Zhenya has Brian and Tracy, not the despicable person who smiled visibly as her WD was being announced. Gross.
I'm kind of confused why Zhenya is ending her season now. Does anybody know why? Would she rather start new and train hard for next season rather than continue competing? I'm just so upset because those were her two best programs

I just saw the results and more confirmed why it was necessary for them that Zhenya was out of competition.
If I were Rusfed, I would choose Zhenya as the first alternate. Her SB and Grand Prix season justify this, despite the WD at Nationals.
She really should write a book of her life as a figure skater and off the ice too. But I just don't see that happening that's not Zhenyas style? It's like unreal, you couldn't write a fiction story of Evgenia's life, everyone would say that is too farfetched to be taking seriously.
Most important for her, Tuktamysheva, Samodorova, Konstantinova and Zagitova will be not to loose premier status on the national team. But inevitably, some skaters will get dropped in order to make room for a few new faces.
Would she even want that no I ain't got it would take an injury of one of the girls for her to get to perform?
You are dreaming too much in the Netherland @Edwin. Wishful thinking from Eteri fans, she will not be dropped because of many reasons. Test Skate=national team what she already announced.
How could she have finished third? Did one of Eteris Angels bomb?
If so this is a lost opportunity she will never be able to recapture. at least Zhenya did not skate in dangerous skates.
I just got back from grocery shopping and this is getting even crazier. I think this should be a lesson to all figure skaters to try to bring a backup pair of skates just in case. Even if it means slightly more difficult travel they should do it thickest what happened to evgenia could have been avoided. And quite frankly should have been avoided.
well we'll never know what would have happened. But that Zhenya never got the chance to do the free skate is the hardest part.Well, according to the scores one of them has lost points as the competitions progress. Imagine how it will be when in Nationals she loses 8 points compared to her last competition. That is why seeing her score today is that we say that if Zhenya had skated as in Rostelecom she could has get third place.
I'm just sad because she could have been on the podium, if not for her boot.
If her boot hadn't been broken she would have been a lot higher in the short program, maybe even in third.
And Sasha's total score wasn't that much higher than Zhenya's SB. Could you imagine if Zhenya had beat Sasha for bronze? Would she had gone to Euros and Worlds?
It's a huge what-could-have-been, and I'm really sad
