At this point I hope she would just take the whole season off to heal and come back next season. Although I want to see Zhenya skate this season, I do not want her to sacrifice her health for that. There is already talk on newssites that several GPs are in danger of being cancelled and Europeans and Worlds are also on the line and likely won't happen, so there is no point in pushing herself to compete at the Russian Cups or RusNats in hope of qualifying for Europeans or Worlds without having fully healed her back. It is really worrisome how many skaters are suffering from injuries currently, because they were rushing to get back in shape for competitions after quarantine.Mae‘s wishing Zhenya a speedy recovery in the comments. Sweet.
I‘m still worried. If it was a broken ankle or something similar, I wouldn‘t be. But back injuries end careers and if she ends up needing surgery, I doubt she can come back to competitive sport... let‘s just hope it will somehow all work out...
Maybe we will get an update next week after she went to the hospital. Zhenya sounded optimistic in her post, however, we know that she always tries not to worry her fans and to be optimistic for us. Also she has a tendency to push herself beyond her limits, because she wants to compete for her fans, I hope she won't rush through the recovery and takes the time that her back needs to recover.
