Evgenia Medvedeva

First Jin, now Zhenya... How am I supposed to survive the rest of season?!

But I'm happy she takes care of herself just to come back stronger than ever

I honestly believe that this is the best decision for her, as sad as it makes me and probably makes her too.

Now she can heal properly and come back stronger, instead of skating while injured and probably losing to Alina. Sure, Alina will gain some momentum but this way Zhenya remains unbeaten. Many skaters skip GPF during the Olympic year, and if she comes back strong I don't believe she will be penalized for it at all. And she needs to be healthy to come back stronger :)

Thoughts and prayers for her recovery!

Now it's officially the most weird GPF.....

But I'm happy that she decided to WD. Now she can start training for RN and Europeans.
Praying for her health and fast recovery!

I've been worrying about her since she fell in Russian GP( Sorry I am a worrier). First I was worrying why her consistency wasn't quite there. Now how bad is the injury. Since they announced it, I don't know if it is really bad that they had to tell everybody. And potential future WD? I hope it is really not too bad that she will recover in time for big game. Best Luck.

When is it? Bone heals 6-8 weeks, so most likely she won't make it. Even after that there is a rehab period that limits training.

I’m thinking maybe she’ll skip Nationals and instead qualify for the Olympic team officially at Euros.

OK I have no idea how this works. Does she have to compete at the Europeans in order to get an Olympic spot?

I don't think she needs to necessarily, but it would definitely be good for her to go. You don't want your first competition after injury to be the OG, she needs to gain back momentum and confidence

But what if she's still not completely healed? It would be risky for her to compete without being 100%, because then she could get injured going into the OG!!!!! And that would be no good!
I hope she heals fast, very fast! But for that to happen she needs to rest.
Btw, what caused this injury? Was it just the daily training? Was it some specific jump? That injury she had during NHK(I think it was NHK...), is that the same injury? She competed without being 100% and made the injury worse? Because, oh man... That sucks!

I think if it comes to this, she should completely forget about Euro or Nationals and just focus on the only title she doesn't have.
Zagitova(who I think is her only threat-maybe) may gain momentum, but I believe Med will show everyone who's boss! :cool14:

Hopefully it's not that serious for her to not even be able to compete at Europeans :/ I'm not sure about Nationals, it's about week after Final, so there's quite a big chance she may skip them too. But her not going to any competition before Olympics would be really tough, I don't really see this happening.

I am glad Zhenya will focus on getting well but I know it's gotta be tough to have to pull out of the competition. But if it's what's necessary to get the job done then so be it.

Euros are barely a month before the OG, so if she's not ready by then things could be pretty bad. I'm 99% sure that she will want to go to Euros no matter what. If her injury is what they said it was (stress fracture to the metatarsal bone of the right foot), it should heal in 1-2 months max. Of course, I don't know how serious her injury is, but considering she has been off the ice since NHK, she might not be ready for Nats but should be for Euros. Fingers crossed!

PS: on a much more superficial note, I found Evgenia's blouse from the P&G press day on ebay! So cute, def too expensive for me though ahahah

Happy she made the right decision. Hope she will come back strong whenever she is healthy.

I wouldn't be so sure about it. There were rumors about lifting the plaster temporarily (apparently it is special type for athletes that allows it) and training again after all. I can't pinpoint exact source now but I read something like that from one of comments to some of the news of Med's appearing in plaster in public at vk.com/figureskating_love

Agreed! I honestly think she will be just fine and will win everything as long as she doesn't rush things, unlike Satoko (who is also a workaholic and got injured multiple times since her first injury). There are still 2 months left until the europeans. I just hope she gets that olympic gold medal because like it or not, she deserves it.

A new interview. Nothing new really. I'll translate it later if no one else does but only thing that caught my attention so far is: "I am now focused exclusively on preparing for the Olympics. And nothing should distract me."
