Do you know what rule was applied to translate the score? (For example +3GOE becomes +5)
Great that her score goes up :)

formula [new (raw) GOE = old (raw)GOE/3*5];
procent [new(raw) GOE/max new (raw) GOE*100];
GOE= max GOE*procent

Example 3Lz:

new (raw) GOE=2,29/3*5=3,81 ;
procent= 3,81/5*100=76,2%
GOE=2,95*0,762=2,25

Understood?:biggrin:

Me when I see maths: :noshake:

I'm really curious to see what the first few competitions judged with the new system will be like - I wonder how much the scores will differ

They say, you can explain a complex mathematical concept even to an alcoholic, if you find a proper example, e.g. dividing a bottle of vodka. :) So, figure skating is your opportunity to learn some maths. :)

Basically, GOE +3 becomes +5, while all the other values are changed proportionally.

Actually that makes sense (even if your formulas look like Python, and I hate it) :laugh: Although I'm not sure that the calculations will be so easy and logical when the season will start :biggrin:

I pretty understand the calculation. But I'm curious how it will be valued by referees. Lets say that what was valued +3GOE would be instantly valued +5GOE, as it is supposed in that example. What's with +2? Will it be rather +4, +3 or +2? And what was +1, could that be valued also as +2 now?

I'd probably do better when drunk, tbh.

But yes, I understand the general concept, just without going into the maths specifics of it! :biggrin: I think Zhenya has made the right move choosing TCC, as they really develop the skills required to get high GOEs consistently.

I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this—who will count the votes, and how. this qoute fits here

For the new season, there will be new fascinating GOE bullets. We have to wait how the judges will adopt to this new system.

You are right, this example stayed by the old sytem because there was no time to go through and re-score all of these elements using the new GOE bullets.

Edit:
The new bullets are:
1) very good height and very good length (of all jumps in a combo or sequence)
2) good take-off and landing
3) effortless throughout (including rhythm in Jump combination)
4) steps before the jump, unexpected or creative entry
5) very good body position from take-off to landing
6) element matches the music
FOR + 4 and +5 THE FIRST THREE bullets must be present

I've seen people claiming that those bullets and new rules are going to be negative for Zhenya, but I don't understand; i admit that I don't know FS very well, but it looks to me that she usually has every bullets on her jumps :scratch2: The first one might be controversial, but it is incredibly subjective, so...

sorry, this is off topic to the current discussion but does anyone know where I can watch Zhenya's olympic performances with B.esp commentary?

I think for Zhenya:

1) she has average height and average length - her jumps aren't huge but they aren't tiny by any means. It depends on how the judges will interpret it.
2) she has really good takeoff on her 3S and 3Lo, average on her toe jumps and axel
3) she has a good rhythm through her jumps normally, sometimer her 3+3 are a bit labored

All in all, it really depends on how the judges apply these, as usual

I think we have to wait but I disagree who says the new rules are negative for Zhenya.
Her 3Lo for example has definetly +4GOE or +5GOE potential.
