it says that she will attend the training camp in Novogorsk - google translate

Anyone know if Brian will go with her or not?

I worry about her facing Eteri alone :(

I'm pretty sure Brian or at least Tracy will go with her. They won't send her alone don't worry! Also, let's remember that Eteri is still a professional coach, so even if there is some bad blood there she's not going to fight Zhenya at the test skates

she has mean looks that can kill your mood...
and Brians seems to travel too much; he was in china and and spain for half of the summer

Brian is definitely used to traveling a LOT so it's not gonna be a problem for him :)

And both Zhenya and Eteri will be too focused on their repsective jobs to pay too much attention to each other - also, Zhenya is strong enough to brush off any kind of mean looks!

yeah probably won't fight, but say something on national tv :rolleye: but hopefully it's all water under the bridge now!

It's best for Zhenya to have her first "post-breakup" run in with Eteri at test skates than at a real competition anyway. It's gotta happen sooner or later. But I'm sure Zhenya can handle it and, as much as I lost trust in Eteri's professionalism after her tv stunt, I doubt she's going to waste her time and energy on petty drama either when she has much more important things to do. But I'm also extremely curious who's going to accompany Zhenya! Brian's an official Sambo 70 coach now, surely he wants to go, right?

Today I started my Russian 101 class at university. I currently have picked up only a few words from following skating, but I’m doing it for Zhenya! Wish me luck!

Maybe they will have a business hug and move on from there.

A hug?? I can‘t imagine that to be honest. A polite nodd and a greeting, yes but I can‘t see Eteri hugging Evgenia at this point. But who knows, maybe she calmed down already and doesn‘t blame Zhenya anymore. I‘d really like them to get their act together and maybe talk because it‘s been an unfortunate string of events and misunderstandings that lead to this. And they have spent so much time together and achieved so much, separating like this... well, I can imagine it hurts. It‘s certainly not an easy situation and I can imagine that it does take more of a toll on Zhenya than we imagine. Eteri was probably like a second mom to her, after 11 working together. It‘s not like some unknown people hating on the internet about her, it was her long-time coach whom she trusted and who spilled private things about her. She is tough but this is no easy situation. I don‘t doubt her, though, she‘s been through a lot and she can manage this, too and she will. But I think it will be best when she‘s accompanied by either Brian or Tracy to have some support, going alone doesn‘t seem like a good idea. But I doubt the‘d let her go alone.

On another note: I love her new hair! It makes her look younger and I think this fresh look will be great with a sassy jazz routine. Team TCC is really going for a week of transformations. Now we need to see Yuzu with new hair, too and the circle‘s complete.

Well there has been a precedent with a Yulia encounter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3PiPI9HvGI. A hug maybe a bridge to far. Based on the number of skaters who left Eteri this year and rumors that training camp was pretty intense (that one girl left after the transfer period), something tells me Eteri isn't exactly interested in reconciliation.

Of course, I don't see Med holding grudges but if I were Orser, I would advise her to initiate contact with Eteri, the other trainers, and the Eteri's skaters. It can be a hug, a handshake, a bouquet of flowers, whatever, but do something to show that she is the master of her fate and not Eteri.

I think she'll be fine. Zhenya is one tough cookie. She'll be focused, and hopefully she'll have Brian with her to give her plenty of support.
The 'encounter' would happen sooner or later anyway, so it's better to get out of the away soon.

Brian and Tracy each spent a week in Spain teaching at Javi's summer skating camp (Brian did week one and Tracy week two) and they spent another week or less in China doing the same, including signing an agreement with the Chinese fed. Hardly half the summer  Brian and Tracy are in demand as teachers and love doing it. Workshops and camps long have been a part of their summer activities. Also: Don't forget they have to also work around the ice show and rehab schedules of their junior and senior skaters this spring and summer.

If you think Brian and Tracy wouldn't be able to support Evgenia and protect her (if need be) from a potentially hostile coach, I don't know what to say. I've never seen anything in their behaviour that would suggest otherwise. In fact, I was treated to a live and very up-close version of Brian's "game face" as I walked through the main hallway at Scotiabank Pond complex on Saturday night as he coincidentally left the rink for a moment. That's not a face that will quail at the sight of Eteri. And Tracy too has struck me as courageous and firm. They may seem like your average affable Canadians if you did not know them and met them on the street, but they are very successful veterans who have survived a demanding sport as competitors and coaches.

In my opinion , Eteri was already calmed down in her planned telephone tv interview. A hug? Zhenya has certainly more reasons to ignore her. But who knows?

For sure they had a close relationship but Zhenya never said (as far as i know) that Eteri is her "second mom". Only after the Olympics, Eteri started this mom-daughter talk. I wonder why...

All the kudos to this post.

At the end of the day, both Zhenya and Eteri will be too busy at test skates and later events to really worry about whether they'll hug\speak\fight or whatever. They will be focused on the actual job they have, skating and coaching. I'm sure there is still some bad blood there, but the test skates isn't the place to resolve that conflict in my opinion. Maybe one day they will be able to talk about it and clear the air, but not when they have other things to do.

First off, it's so awesome that you bumped into him! Do you skate at Scotiabank regularly?

But second and more importantly: this. Brian and Tracy both have gone through a lot during their own skating carreers and have a lot of steel underneath the friendly "soft" demeanor. I wouldn't worry about that at all.

Wait people really think Brian and Tracy are softies? hahah they were competitive skaters, nation champs of their gen, and now top coaches, you cant be a softie and achieve that. They are classy, Evgenia would be fine. Im pretty sure they would ignore each other. I cant say how Ev would react thought, would she smile? would she talk to Alina? She will act classy too but in the meantime. I just hope for her to have fun and shout mouths with her new program

I don't think anyone believes Brian and Tracy are softies... You need to be tough to be an elite athlete or coach. Girls like Evgenia or Alina... in one sense they're teenagers, loving anime and Sailor Moon or cute dogs and nail polish but on the ice they mean business. They might be young girls but they're not sissy. Of course they aren't made of steel and things can affect them and that's why I think we shouldn't just dismiss that it might be hard for them to deal with some things but in general they're the definition of "tough cookies". Cookies off-ice, tough on it. ;)
