I think she means local time so I believe it is the Russian time.Do u mean 3:30 ish Eastern time in the US?

That's 5:30 am Eastern. SP starts at 4 am Eastern.

*7:30AM EST. The ladies’ short begins at 2PM in Russia, or 6AM in EST. 3:30PM is an hour and a half after the start of the short programme, which is 7:30AM EST.
So, you know, the difference between “way the BLEEPING BLEEP too early” and “way the bleep too early.”![]()
Thank you for always counting the spin revolutions. I try to do it every time but somehow I never seem to catch whether she‘s actually doing enough or not.
That‘s good to hear, though. Now we can only hope that at least part of that absolutely perfect practice translates to competition.

No problem! I wish I could be more useful, though.
As far as the spins go: I think there’s an element of over-reaction at times? Unfortunately, the video of her SCI and IdF short programme performances side by side was taken down, but if you look up the two and watch the final spin — well, at IdF, Med was off the music compared to SCI (which was a great performance, if you just ignore the error with the flip). And Med is definitely not the only skater to short-rev a spin position trying to hit the music and/or perform the position change on the music as practised. Spin rules changed this season and tech panels have become stricter about calling sit positions. Everyone’s got to work out their muscle memory from seasons past and remember to hold the requisite number of revs even when off the music. The fact that her spins are fine in practise and that she’s clearly just making minor mistakes that cost an entire level in performances suggest to me that she knows what she needs to do, but little errors are costly with how spin levels work.
What actually concerns me is her second sit spin position, as the hip of her free leg is not below the bent knee of her skating leg — but that’s not a new issue. And I have no doubt her back troubles aren’t making that issue any easier. She does have sufficient revs in a basic sit spin position and clears the criteria for all three basic positions being performed in the spin (the first sit position, camel, and then upright to finish), but that second position could be invalidated by a strict caller. And, of course, she needs to hit the revs in the camel — but I think the short-changing of revs in the camel position is more an issue of musical cues and/or counting and/or old muscle memory than a Really Big Deal. The sit position I find more concerning, just because sit spins have never been her strongest spin positions, and I don’t want her to place more strain on her back; at the same time, I also worry about a strict technical panel, as Marin Honda lost a spin level for a sit spin position that wasn’t low enough and as such left the spin lacking sufficient revs in all three basic positions. (But, on the bright side, Med has two sit spin positions, whereas Honda only had one.)
I may just be more chill about all this if only because I saw Yuzu have an entire spin invalidated at ACI, lose a level for missing maybe a third of a rev on the change of edge on his final spin in his short during the Olympics, etc. Med’s spins are overall less consistent than they were in prior seasons in terms of reliably hitting L4, but post-ACI, it’s clear she worked on them and most of the level loss has to do with executing everything to IJS bullet points in the moment rather than lack of discipline, focus, practise, etc. She’s making... pretty normal errors, just a bit more often than I think we’d all like, but those errors tend to relate to musical timing, which is not exactly uncommon.
I’m sure she’s not happy with anything less than a L4, but I guess what I’m trying to say is: ice is slippery, she’s really not doing as badly in this area as the levels suggest, and let’s focus on the positive?
Her jumps look so pretty now, so light and with more height, and also her SS are really improved, if I already loved Zhenya before now she is on her way to become one of my ultimate favorite skaters :luv17:
First post in here btw, hello everyone!
Costume designers can make miracles happen. If they able to make a whole new costume for Yuzu in two weeks after he bloodied the old one during that accident in COC 2014 then anything can happen.I have no idea who could make this dress in two weeks.
Wishing Zhenya all the best at RusNats!!!!!
Zhenya is the reason why I got into figure skating. Had it not even for how captivating she is as a skater, I wouldn't be so deeply engross as I am now in figure skating. I haven't been a figure skating fan for very long only since Europeans so I'm still learning about jumps and what not but I've been having so much fun.
I know Zhenya is having a rough year with all the changes that she's had to endure but I have really grown to admire her resilience and courage, it takes a really strong person to take all the steps she's taken and still be able to smile and remain positive.
Also wanted to thank everyone who posts to this fan fest as it has been such a nice positive corner to retreat and lurk on when other sites that I frequent aren't as kind, so thank you.

Well thank you.
Please post more often. And this is a terrific first post.![]()
