I have no idea how their policy is in such a case. Or how any of that works anyway. It's just that Zhenya doesn't seem to gain even the barest minimum from sticking with Sambo, so I had to wonder...

The holiday season can actually last up to mid-January
There is also a so-called Old New Year on January 14. Official holidays are through January 8, but most people will start working earlier. As far as I know, Sambo skaters will have five days off.

Since Evgenia mentioned she is going to do more competitions this season, I wonder what it's going to be ? Of course, we already know it's not the Europeans and surely not the Worlds*.
I don't know if she plans to do a domestic competition in Russia, or internationally? If it's in Russia, then I don't know since I know nothing about Russian domestic competitions. But if it's internationlly, there is :
- Mentor Torun Cup
- EDU Sport Trophy
- Skate Helena
- Reykjavik International
- Sofia Trophy
- Bavarian Open
- Challenge Cup
- Cup of Tyrol
- Winter Universiade (still don't understand why they didn't send her here...anyway)
- Triglav Trophy
- Coupe du printemps
- Egna Spring Trophy
- World Team Trophy (hope she will be there!)
*I also do wonder if the Russian fed is going to consider her for the Worlds if she has good results (more than 210+, clean performances for example) at some Senior B competitions. She has been stuggling a bit this season, but if she is clean, her scoring potential is huge.

I will continue to scream ”UNIVERSIADE FOR ZHENYA“ until someone in rusfed hears it and does what we all want. Assign her to that damn competition! :dev2:

It's considered other international competition, mostly Europeans, but other countries are there. Chock/Bates will be there, as well as Mae and Laurine from France.

Please no Bavarian Open, I'd cry if she came to my country and I couldn't go.
I don't know if she'd do such a small competition anyway, I'm still hoping that Universiade somehow happens for her.

I agree. But a small competition might be good for her and it could up the sales to the competition. I'm all for promoting the sport.

I'm OK to see Zhenya at Universiade, but is she a student of any university or college? I'm not sure how strict the rules are there, but Universiade is usually a good big multi-sport event. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universiade

I think this is only temporary since her coach is Brian so she’s gonna go back to Canada after the holidays. No need to move
& the caption for the CSKA photo was “nice to meet [you], always happy [to have you]” — kind of like you’re always welcome to come here if u need to

Am I the only one who thinks it‘s weird she‘s training at CSKA given that Sambo is still the club she officially represents? I mean, sure, maybe she doesn‘t want to train there (understandable, it would probably be problematic) but it‘s still her club and now she can‘t even go there because of all the drama? Just let her change to CSKA already, she doesn‘t gain anything at all from being with Sambo...
I‘m glad she‘s at CSKA, though, is welcomed there and can make some new friends.

I think it’s more of ice time problem than „don’t come here for drama sake” problem. Without Brian she is coachless now in Russia and I suppose ice time in Sambo-70 is assigned to coach so his/her group can train. She would have to join another group and besides Eteri’s (which is crowded) I only know about Tsareva who works in Sambo. Maybe CSKA just had some free slots or Evgenia was simply invited by Sokolovskaia to join her students in training. I think that people’s reaction at RusNats and Zhenya’s meeting with officials showed that she is still very high profile surname and I wouldn’t be surprised if CSKA asked her to come also for subtle PR sake

I also find it a bit strange, but maybe she just doesn't want to create even more drama. Or maybe it requires a lot of paperwork. Also, perhaps, she doesn't want another influetial person to bash her publicly, like director of Sambo. But all of these are just my pure speculation. I guess it's just easier to leave everything as it is
