Evgenia Medvedeva

I’d just like to say that I nearly fell off my chair today when I opened the sports section of my states newspaper, to see a picture of Evgenia during her short program, mid spin! The picture took over half the page

It was a big deal to me because figure skating does not get any column inches normally in my country (Australia)! Glad the newspaper was spreading the word about our beautiful tsarina’s achievements.

It was a very nice article, called “Go Figure: Russia unveils Evgenia”

Congrats to all teams with medals, it was an entertaining event. Alina skated clean as expected and did great, kudos to her. However, her PCS is 75.... it's literally higher than Carolina's now.
So I will just have to ask this question. Will our Tsarina still get chance to win without changing the content?

(Yes, I know that her record is 160, however it was in WTT and without the edge call...)
IMO PCS 75 is the level of a champion, I can see that judges (or Rus fed) see her as a leader...

P.S. Btw Eteri's face was brilliant in kiss & cry

We don't know until it happens, I don't think they see her as leader, at least not yet, more like, just want drama in general because one person winning everything in 3 seasons is boring :rolleye:
I do think Zhenya still has a chance.

Reading this gives me a heart break and worries but I still believe that she will have a gold medal, finger crossing.

What did her face express? :scratch2:

I believe that our queen will have the gold medal. If she can break her own record in SP so why not she can't win, I know that Alina is strong but to me, our queen always be the best for gold medal.

Well I think she looked quite puzzled and like has a small head nod ......like 'game over'

P.S. I have to say that Alina is great, TAT calls he 'BOMB' in the sense of she is like a firework. So I am not trying to put any bad shades on her and she also most likely will have one chance to win gold!

However, as longtime Zhenay's fan, I just trying to get my head around it. Cuz to me she is a leader and got through the puberty always showing the crazy high-level skating at any competition, clear fighter, therefore, I can not change my heart but wish her to get gold, but watching figure skating for a long time I can see that techniques beats maturity every time in female events. And well two of my favourite skaters Michelle (my childhood idol) and Mao ended up without gold after all...After Sochi, I need to prepare myself for it in advance lol

Zhenya's presentation has much improved, I believe even if she doesn't win the gold she'd still be one to remember. That's the least consolation I have if things don't turn out in her favors.

Do you think Evgenia will put all her combos in second half? I think it would be a good choice, she can put these 3-3 anywhere, anytime. It would look more impressive and it would give her higher BV. She better work on that 2A, as well.

Good point. That's what I hope as well. If she doesn't make it to gold, I just praying she stays and develops more! She is finally in the stage to create special programs, emotional and mature. That would be such a shame that due to crazy competitiveness within Russian ladies filed, even Tsarina would have to step aside......imo but she has so much more to show us, so much potential.

In the recent documentary (which was made last year), she was like it's crazy, I am just 17 but the new generation is already technically stronger....was heartbreaking moment for me. But she promised to fight and I believe in her.

What, now? Nah.
She needs to skate cleanly, as best as she can. She cannot fight Alina's nonsensical PCS with anything else but maximizing what she has, showing off all her skills and then hoping the judges see light. It is what it is.

Well, she already did it twice this season due to mistakes but it didn't help much. I think it's better keep it like it is now, but make it as light as possible with great flow and extension, tano/ripons, so she gets +3 (or +2 but not lower). I mean it's simple math, but with Aline's TES and PCS of 75 (Also you profile pic reminds me once again, that with the same very program Alina had 62 PSC in JWC, which was slightly lower than Marin's PCS :slink:) . All in all I can't see that it would help her very much, only the cleanest and lightest skates without any mistakes will do........ Also it depends will they call her edge on 3Ltz......

Basically Zhenya needs to show not just a clean skate but skate of her lifetime in both programs imo!:points:
