Evgenia Medvedeva

Hello everyone!
I have been reading this thread for a while and I finally I logged in ^^
I think it could not be a better moment ^^
I am really excited about the competition today, can't wait to see Zhenya performance!
I really want her to win, in my opinion she deserves it after the incredible last two seasons, even it isn't easy.

I was wondering if anyone have a link to watch the event stream, I am from Spain and any TV channel here is broadcasting it in streaming.

Also I want to apologize because I am not used to write in English, even less with a computer.

maybe one of these suggested link will work, try vpn if not the case.

6-Alina will go through puberty soon no one knows how that will end, and if she wins the gold now, we don't know if she will continue, according to the Russian history of missing young winners.

Will not, it's already finished I think, just compare
Alina 20-25 Dec 2016 http://freeskating.info/gallery/russian_nats_2017/dec21_practice_l1/small/img_9314s.jpg
and
Alina 19-24 Dec 2017 http://freeskating.info/gallery/russian_nats_2018/dec21_practice_ladies_p3/small/img_1739s.jpg
no significant changes should be expected now.

Somebody posted a gif or video back after the team event of Evgenia fixing Alina’s collar. Does anyone know the link? I think it is a sweet post displaying their friendship.

I won’t be watching live as I have an exam in 2 days and I really need to sleep in order to function (stupid 5am time for europeans...)

GOOD LUCK ZHENYA!!! Do your best ❤️

well, Russian Medal Machine seems to devour its children.

But good point about the juniors not being comparable. It's just kids doing big jumps, but not much else to them....yet. No guarantees.

I honestly hope Evgenia will last. Maybe if ALina wins, it will be good news for Zhenya, since it's like she would pack the money and go back to her family (she seems more passionate about making life good for parents than skating to me. Skating it's just means to the end. Whereas Zhenya is more devoted to the skating).

Figure skating is a teen's game, as well it should be. It is an extremely demanding sport and not something we should be encouraging girls to keep doing in to their 20's. Figure skating takes their childhood. They deserve their 20's to enjoy life and start their family. I am rooting strongly for Medvedeva tonight because I think she is more elegant and artistic skater, but I think what some of you are forgetting is that this will probably be Alina's one and only chance for a Gold Medal in the Olympics too. Four years from now she will be 19 years old and in all likelihood retired. We should all enjoy tonight for what it is- a battle between two true masters of the sport.

Figure skating is what they love, they deserve to be cut off from this because they reach 20? I don't know about others but Zhenya said she doesn't have a shed of regret for not having a childhood like everyone else, because she is doing what she loves! No matter how hard it is if it's what they want they should be encouraged!

And it's not accurate to say she had no childhood... It just is a different childhood.

Really, many people as they get older regret that their parents didn't make them do something useful in their childhoods. Different people like different things. It's all about how they themselves feel about it at the time as well as looking back at it.

Please. Please let my baby win the OGM. That is all.. :ghug:

Deserves got nothing to do with it. Nature naturally retires girls from the elite competitive side of the sport at the exact time when they are transitioning in to age of motherhood. It is all part of the natural circle of life and nothing to upset ourselves about. It is just luck of the draw that Alina was born in a year that put her at her prime when the four year Olympic cycle came around while Evgenia is getting a bit long in the tooth, but it will make the latter's triumph all that more impressive if she is to pull it off tonight!

Oh gosh, I hope none of our comments come off as bad for the other skaters. We are aware of the difficulties that they face. I really do love all figure skaters!

By that logic women shouldnt do sports at all, since they're naturally weaker than men. And humans shouldnt do sports to increase their strenght at all because no matter what they do they can't be stronger than an elephant.

Also it's figure skating and not figure jumping. Maybe judges prefer the later but it's not what it means to be. Figure skating is also about precision, presentation and not just strenght.

Aljona Savchenko just won a gold medal at 34 just saying.
