I'm feeling sad. But Zhenya's really done her best! It was up to her coaches to foresee such development of the events. For me Zhenya will be the real champion

I'm crying still. :sad4: I thought I had accepted that Alina would win, but I couldn't quite give up hope.

However, Zhenya's still the most amazing athlete here tonight and a true inspiration. She's so courageous and such a fighter, and a great sportsman, too, seeing how sweet she was to Alina afterwards.

I wanted the OGM for her so, so much, but she's just as much a champion as Alina in my eyes. I hope so much she'll continue on and get better and better.

And hey, I know people will say this is delusional with the new group of juniors coming up, but Beijing 2022.

And really, that it's tied in score with Zagitova just because her lutz is the wrong edge and she does a less difficult combo despite the significantly more involved performance and the precision in every movement... Well, I just don't know. What is PCS for...

I have no words to express just how incredibly proud I am of Evgenia for the way she performed that FS. She gave it her all and she created a moment to watch time and time again.

Zhenya, you did your absolute best. I’m sad that it wasn’t rewarded as it maybe could have, but that was one of the most beautiful programs I have ever seen. You are a true champion and a true artist and I hope you will continue to give us amazing performances. Thank you for everything you have shown us in these past 3 years!

I have been a Zhenya skeptic as an artist for some time. I never begrudged her victories, but I always held a skeptical eye to her celebration as a performer (to be clear, I never thought she was awful like some on this forum). Part of that was never her fault - I think the COP system squeezes everyone of creative possibilities - but I thought she was different tonight. I felt she did her best to capture the spirt of Karenina. Maybe her jumps weren't as fluid as 2017, so what, she did something unlike anything she's ever quite done in her entire career and I applaud her.

I know we are all upset with the result but I believe in Zhenya! She's strong, stronger than most of the Russian girls I've seen so far. I can't wait to see her at the gala this Sunday and as long as she's smiling, I will too!
