Evgenia Medvedeva

But there're ppl doubting her injury, assuming she just didnt want to compete (or "running away" from Alina) and was making excuses.

I wrote last week she has the biggest fanbase at the moment(women figure skating). So there will always be an antipol until another woman surpasses her.

The problem is they're trying to convince new fans such. So there must be a "proof" to deny it. I've seen people saying they're kind of doubtful about Zhenya based on what people around them said when they first get into fs, but then it's different when they actually get into it and have some knowledge.
If there're no such documentaries they would continue to assume she walks on a path of flowers or something.

:console: We can not change it.

But i am sure zhenya will continue win new fans...regardless of some wrong information.

That was really intense to see. But why was Evgenia banging her head on the railing and what was Eteri saying?

She was frustrated.
And found on twitter that Eteri said something like "Zhenya does not have many qualities that other skaters have.
But I want to say that other skaters do not have the same patience and diligence as Zhenya's"

It's true, and that's why I love Zhenya. She's amazing artistically, but technically she isn't the best jumper or the best spinner, but she is so dedicated that she's broken the WR 12 times. If that isn't incredible, idk what is!

I guess that’s just the way the sport is. I’ve seen gymnastics training clips where the gymnasts would go in a corner and just sob because they can’t get a move right that day. I’ve also heard that bad training days play with the athletes heads psychologically. As in, for a moment they feel like they’re not good enough for the sport, but those thoughts only last a moment.
Actually, that’s another reason why sports are just easier for kids than adults, because the older you get, the more you start overthinking and doubting yourself.
Being an athlete takes as much, or even more psychological toll than it does a physical toll. That’s why those athletes are stronger than we could imagine.

Sorry I went on a tangent

For me, I would love to see Janny performing in her SP this song from the Pan's Labyrinth https://youtu.be/0tD3Jmc96ao and for her FP definitely 01 Canon in D https://youtu.be/KpvjNWGk4ss . They’re both sad songs in their own way, but there’s a sense of happiness in them too. Imo, only her would be able to bring those songs alive in the ice.

I love Pan's Labyrinth OST! I imagined Zhenya interpreting this melody, and my god, it is perfect, emotional, magical.

I think Lambiel is a realistic possibility. Daniil choreographed winning programs (Black Swan, Anna Karenina) so maybe they give this pass to him over Ilia. Kukushka was an experiment between Eteri and Zhenya, according to an interview with Daniil, so something good could come out of there. Eteri has a degree in Choreography as well.

I would like to see Zhenya skating a melody like the one mentioned by LittleLary + an FS with Pretty when You Cry by Lana Del Rey or some Björk song, now that voices are allowed. I think songs with female Indie voices look great on Zhenya.

I can't wait for the documentary !!:yahoo:

My baby!!!:sad21: I don't understand how anyone could say that Zhenya has had everything easy. She has had to endure immense pressure these three years, she was injured just before the Olympics, her country was sanctioned, she has literally a lot of hard competition on her own icerink, and she had to keep a cold head, keeping her emotions locked all these 3 years! We all know that, and we love and admire her for her fierceness and hard work. She is even admired by Alina, Trusova, Anna and practically all her companions, because apart from being a sporting reference, she is also a warm human being, sisterly and reliable.

True. But it was still sad to see Zhenya like that. Its sports and its intense and hard.

Some people say that she isn’t the best, but honestly she wouldn’t be able to broke all those records if she wasn’t good, or trying everyday to improve herself. She does need to work on her lutz but other than that, she is good technically speaking.

And about her artistic side, I do believe that she is the best in seniors by far. And about her mental health, that girl is strong. We can see that! I think she will improve herself in the next years, if she is capable of doing that (talking about her body and etc) she will.

And about that video, yeah she was frustrated with herself, must be hard to coming back after that injury and still not be 100% good, and training with that bandages in her foot, and the falls, all those things counts.

Watching her in that position is heartbreaking, really felt like I was an intruder in her life, in her lower moment.

IKR, that song from Pan's Labyrinth is heartbreaking, when Ofelia is dying. I have goosebumps just thinking about Janny performing that!

Yeah, not just Alina admires her, but this young generation too, and a lot of Russians! I don’t think Janny is only the most popular female athlete from her sport, but also the most popular on Russia. Feels like they lean on her for everything! They needed an athlete to talk with the OC and who they call?! Janny! Everyone was saying that she would won the Olympic Gold Medal, she was coming back for an injury and as we could see from that little video, it wasn’t a easy coming back!

All those things counts to makes her what she is, so strong, so elegant, a great athlete as well, who is so respected and loved by her colleagues and by the fans of FS, and her easy going personality, her sisterhood feelings, always joking and not taking herself too serious, I mean all this combom in 1 person?!! Who on earth wouldn’t have an admiration for a young girl with those characteristics?!

She is the best artistically+technically (my opinion). Technically alone...some girls are better than her.

She is the most well-rounded female skater in senior at the moment in my opinion. Tech+art can still be improved as long as she's willing, she can keep being healthy with good management, maybe get a health specialist? Some skaters have athletic trainer with them.

I also think that Evgenia is currently the most balanced skater. Haters created the "myth" that she is terrible at a technical level, but that is not true. All skaters have technical failures in some area. The problem of Evgenia is its edge in the Lutz, as well as the one suffered by almost all the current skaters, its 2A is not the best, but it manages to rotate it completely and land. Her Flip, Salchow, and Loop are very good and she can take advantage of that to the fullest, without lying, I think the 4S is a possibility if she practiced it when she was 100% (she will no longer grow in cm, her hips are narrow, She is naturally thin, and has increased her leg muscles). She has no UR problems, the pre-rotation has never been in the 180 ° limit, in short, they simply created a negative exaggeration regarding her technique. She has lost a bit of her safety, flow and speed due to the injury, but as soon as she gets better we will see them again (see Worlds and WTT 2017, great speed, flow and extension in the landings, the TR also look smooth and effortless) The quality of her stsq and the accuracy of the 11 turns to get level 4 are still the best among the ladies. I still have faith in Zhenya. The juniors are excellent, but they are not perfect and they have nothing assured, because the morphology can play against them. Elizavetha and Radionova are the best examples of this: they were the top technical level, but their bodies changed and they are no longer able to execute the arsenal they used to have. Now they struggle to be able to make basic combinations.I have always said this: Zhenya is an exception, her body type is a BIG advantage, and if we add her strong mentality and ability to work under pressure, she will be here for a long time.

The truth of the matter is Zhenya is not the best. The best would mean that all aspects of her skating would be superb, technique flawless, and naturally gifted. She's definitely one of the greater stars of her generation of skaters, but Zhenya is a very well produced, and timed product of the Tutberidze school. Furthermore what she lacks in many aspects she more than makes up for in perseverance, diligence and mental strength. And at this point in the sport that's much more laudable, taking into consideration the speed in which younger athletes come up with harder stuff.

Breaking her own records is great but it's really not that big of a deal. She came at a time when none of the veterans were delivering and the IJS needed someone to skate consistent and clean enough, and young enough, to boost and sustain the sport for the second half of the Olympic quadrennial. There are others who had harder technical elements but Zhenya was young, a breath of fresh air and with a strong political backing. Those scores were already high before she even debuted.

Believe me, I felt so sorry for her when her scores came up. Truly, it was heartbreaking. Hope she comes back stronger and really and truly, I wish she would go out and break away from the Averbukh style of skating. If she translated her musicality with actual maturity (think along a Kostner path of components), the possibilities are endless for her while her body allows it.
