Sorry, I have expressed myself wrongly. Yes, they officially said that she wanted to tell a story etc, that she wasn't feeling the Leftovers program. But they still made the new program with the old layout, which is quite telling that backloading/rearanging jumps wasn't working. This isn't a bad thing, it doesn't mean that she's not capable of doing it. She just didn't have enough time to adjust physically, I guess. Also, if you remember her test skate and than Nepela - she seemed very disappointed, something was definitely bothering her.

I agree, I do think that the injury affected the choice of having a backloaded program or not - I guess with the new rules, if they choose to go with them, she won't need one anymore. Her old layout will work fine, she probably just needs harder combos

The injury hasn't influenced return of the old scheme in any way. The new program was done BEFORE a injury. And what there not so was on Nepela? One step out is already bad? Zhenya at the beginning of a season in an interview said that she had many clean of the new scheme at trainings.

I will remind, the new program was put in big haste, from Nepela to JO there were 2 weeks. For acceleration, have taken show program "Anna Karenina" as a basis. The main reason for return of the old scheme that this show program doesn't assume dumping of jumps in the end of the program - at the end of the program many sufferings which should be shown not jumps. For the scheme 1+6 it was necessary to put the program from scratch, and for this purpose there was no time.

In the new movie it is well shown that on Zhenya's fears, Eteri answers - "you should just skating clear". As we know, on OG she has skating clear.... and? For a victory there was just not enough scheme 1+6, it is the next mistake of Eteri.

Zhenya has said she had been feeling pain since before Rostelecom (i.e. Nepela, for example) so that affected her jumping, her consistency and of course they would have been putting more stress on the injured foot with having her train a more difficult layout. So I do think the injury affected their decision of keeping AK 2+5 instead of backloaded

- according to Ambesi, the original plan was to transform AK into a backloaded program by the GPF, but we know how that ended

Yes, the injury has happened before Rostelecom (it is information from the insider), everything is right, but from JO to Rostelecom there were 2 weeks, and the program was put it turns out in 3 weeks prior to a injury. On JO Zhenya was in peak form, you can refresh video.

Which is why they were hoping to turn AK into a backloaded program once they had time to rework it and she had time to train it more, but as we know her foot got worse and they never got to do that.

They didn't return to 1+6 because Evgenia was still injured! Her foot was not healed at OG, she was skating with an injury. If Eteri had decided to have her skate a backloaded program with her fractured foot she would have been a terrible coach. It's like saying that B.Orser should have pushed Yuzuru to do 4Lo and 4Lz anyway to compete with Nathan's 5 quads - it would have just harmed him.

I would believe that it could be the cause if didn't see as Zhenya trained before OG, and she in an interview before OG said that she is ready to train day and night for a victory. But Eteri at that time already was all the same as 1+2 places will share...

I think Eteri did not want to risk. One girl will skate difficult program, another will have reliable and stable technical content. It is perfect strategy for her and for Government. But was awful for Zhenya. Anyway, she wanted to became the coach of OGM and she did it.

I’ve read the full thread but can someone bring me up to speed on why Evgenia might be leaving Eteri, as in actual evidence not just the different interpretations of the season. Because as far as I can tell, she’s been doing shows and traveling like she has done for the past two years only she doesn’t have the added restriction of schooling and WTT to do. She’s going on holiday, which she has done for the previous seasons, which again seems only bumped forwards because she’s not at school or WTT. Plus, she’s resting a broken foot and in my mind it seems she’s killing two birds with one stone rather than go on vacation once her foot is better and miss training time. Very little seems actually out of the ordinary compared to her previous two seasons. What has actually happened?

Rumors on russian social media+ strange behaviour from important persons and groups.
Try to write on Eteri´s vk page "i like zhenya".

What has actually happened?

This might sound funny, but the main fangroup of Eteri erased some existing and stopped posting current info and news about Zhenya and started to ban people just for questioning that.
The group has their sources.
No Zhenya news since 4.24, not even japanese documentary.

this fanfest is better than Akunin's books, figure skating is so treacherous. i will be surprised if Zhenya leaves Russia, she invested a lot in 'I love russia image' and she knows when her career is over her money is in Russia. so maybe russian coach(cska).
