Evgenia Medvedeva

That was completely official, but I'm afraid this is from March.

Yes, because there are rumors of Zhenya suddenly leaving Eteri literally every single month. Which is why we shouldn't believe them unless Zhenya or Eteri confirm them.

Oh, I see. I thought it was being taken as official denial to today's/yesterday's rumour.

The coach change rumors are false. Here is further proof for validation and official confirmation

Moreover, this article quotes the Fed's official site: http://www.fsrussia.ru/news/3624-ev...a-i-namerenii-vystupat-za-druguyu-stranu.html

In the original, there is also another part:

A statement by the Figure Skating Federation of Russia

The Federation is extremely indignant about by the attempts of particular representatives of media to use and spread fake information, thus destabilizing the situation in the Russian figure skating team shortly before the World Championships in Milan, and reserves the right to use all necessary measures to protect the reputation of our athletes and coaches.

russians act like it's a decided thing already.. the fact that rumors turn out to be true in rus fs world. :(

https://www.instagram.com/di__davis/ she didnt delete but they were much closer when they were younger. now not much

I think it's pretty normal since they are three years apart in age that Evgenia and Diana kind of drifted. 18 and 15 is a big difference. There is only one 15 year old Zhenya likes to hang with. ;)

I can't believe what I'm reading in the last couple pages about Zhenya and Eteri. There are no major problems they will not split up. This is not a Yulia Eteri situation.

Most importantly Zhenya needs to take plenty of time off to completely heal her foot so she can have a strong next season.

We all know how crazy she gets in training, so 100% ok is ideal.

I just hope they take the time to fix her lutzes, if that's possible. I always hear that complaint about her.

100% is a must. She has the rest of her career ahead of her.

her lz edge will never be completly clean, even 4s is more possible.
it's not the biggest deal tbh, 3 of 6 top ladies at the olys are flutzers + satoko's and alina's edge sometimes is shady too

If Courtney Hicks could do it, there is hope :agree:

it was 2 months ago

Agreed. It doesn’t account for some of the recent strangeness on social media and resurgence of rumors. Doesn’t mean it’s true or they are obligated to dismiss, but it by no means feels like the issue is closed. I imagine that she may be considering it. And ultimately it may be in her best interest. I do wonder if she’ll wait until the ISU conference where they discuss possible rule changes about backloading. That may change how she views her future and training possibilities.

The transfer window closes by the annual RusFed session which is on 21 May this year. Which is why there has been a flurry of coach change announcements recently. You can transfer outside that time, but it won't be official, you can't take your financing with you and stuff like that.

So, the RusFed approves coach change on the 21 May or before?

I think it is approved at the session, but all the requests have to be in. Normally requests are approved, people are not kept with their old coaches by force or anything. If Zhenya wants to leave Eteri, she can leave, even if the Fed spends the entire time till then trying to dissuade her. And there are no bans on being coached abroad, dancers have done it. Sinitsina/Katsalapov and Ilyinykh/Zhiganshin both trained in the States, at first with their own/sponsor's money. Then SK got financing from the Fed (and considering how that turned out I can see the Fed being wary of throwing more money that way). IZ simply came back due to a lack of results. I don't think they can refuse to finance Zhenya at all if she is a member of Team Russia, she should get what every other team member gets. But they are well within their rights to refuse to pay Orser's fees.

But what if she makes up the money on her own. She has a lot of sponsors now. Plus all the shows she is doing. I mean it's not impossible, right? A Japanese fan even mentioned that the RusFed should let her do commercials in Japan since she is so popular. I don't know what's going on but if she feels the need to leave, I want her to get all the support she can..

No, it's not impossible. But the Fed would not want to piss off Eteri considering all the medals she is bringing in, so if Eteri is strongly against Zhenya leaving it could get ugly. On the other hand, I don't believe they would want to lose Zhenya as a skater either, at least not yet. I think all possible energy would be thrown into dissuading Zhenya and that may work in the end even if she actually has plans to leave.

There is active discussion of decoding of the talk between Zhenya and Eteri after Olympic free on russian forums now. It can be useful in the light of what will be coming soon.
