Well, this escalated quickly .. but honestly, I expected it somehow. Since the news about Evgenia leaving Eteri from Friday came out, there was such a huge outburst on the internet, a lot of people are supporting Zhenya in her decision, they also got excited about the possibility of moving to Orser... She is literally all over the sports media etc. By the way, Zhenya has almost 800 000 followers on Instagram :cool14:
They couldn't wait until Monday because she received so much support from the public and logically they had to backfire. But it's kind of sad. I don't believe that Eteri got the news only on Friday, the rumours have been spreading for a week or two already, starting from the Russian figure skating communities. How come that so many people got the information but Eteri wasn't aware of it? I don't buy it. :scratch3: Unfortunately, they didn't ask her about Polina. Because on Kostornaia's life video from the weekend we saw the usual skaters from their group, but Polina wasn't there. I strongly believe that also those rumours will turn out to be true. Is she going to give an extra interview in order to throw some garbage on her as well?
Maybe the only surprise was the leaking of the info on the news. That's why she got salty and went on a media battle. To some extent I believe that at one point around the Olympics Zhenya got an emotional meltdown and might have said something like this (about Alina). However, this doesn't make her a bad person. Afteral she lost the gold, learnt her lesson, she said herself that one isn't supposed to wait that the opponent will make a mistake. It's really unprofessional to share such a conversation on the national television, or even ANY conversation. This will cause also lateral damages - to Alina, to the younger skaters at their school too. Those kids aren't supposed to train in fear not to share their concerns because one day, when they leave Eteri, she'll expose all their personal conversations....

It's very very pathetic...they used Zhenya the whole season for their PR campaign, left Alina have her trainings, while Medvedeva was constantly doing interviews, photoshoots, went to defend the Russian team in Switzerland...
I am still a fan of Tutberidze team, they achieve fantastic results. But after the drama with Lipnitskaya and some other skaters, I don't buy this old story anymore...that the skater has to take all the blame...

i am really worried, it looks so ugly, Zhenya has more to lose, Eteri is their genius coach, she is untouchable in russian figure skating, till she delivers medals, Zhenya isnt untouchable

As they say, the truth is in the middle...
Both Eteri and Evgenia benefited from the 11 years old coach-skater relationship. I don't blame Evgenia for leaving and trying to maximise her chances for the next Olympics, as I understand Eteri that she must be really furious that Evgenia is leaving. It's a shame that a relationship that seemed ideal is ending like that, though.
Dear god, the smear campaign route Eteri and the Fed are taking is so ugly and Evgenia has every right to be furious but I really hope she doesn’t play into their game and takes the high road.

Well... Two times world champion, two times european champion, two time GPF champion, world record holder on FS and overall... Seems pretty untouchable as well to me at the moment

For Zhenya's sake and her future, she should still be careful with that. She's still young and she's clearly upset right now (in addition to the message on instagram) but it can only make things worse.

The real issue is going to be tomorrow, when she's supposed to give a statement. Now I have no idea how that'll go.

Zhenya is far from untouchable. This is Russia. Eteri said what she said about Zhenya on national tv. really bad things about Zhenya. it wont end good for Zhenya. no chance

Seriously? You think Zhenya cannot go on National television and spill her version of the story? And you forget Eteri has a history.

do you think Eteri did that without Rusfed and Sambo? Eteri is their golden coach who will deliver champions next 20 years. who is more important to them Eteri or Zhenya?

It might end badly for her, but I don't think Zhenya is as vulnerable as you seem to think. She's popular in Russia and she will have the opportunity to answer, so... Hopefully it won't get too far

Yes, she did that without RusFed. No way did the federation ok that. No way. Nobody there would want this mess on their hands.

The best would be if she were to be very chill and extremely gracious and thank Eteri and Rus Fed for they've done for her and allowing her to pursue this new stage in her skating career and new opportunities abroad. And just let that sit there and Mike Drop and fly off to Canada
