This is the first time that I've commented on this site but I've been following this site and Zhenya since the Olympics when I fell in love with her skating and after seeing all of the hate and negative coments on Russain Ladies especially in the last few days I felt as though I had to come here and spread some positivity for Zhenya. I first watched her in the team eent when i was stuck in bed because I was stick and immediately fell in love with her short program and her skating which stood out for me amongst the rest of the competitors. I then went and googled her and found out the full story and watched as many of her programs as I was able to and finding out that she was competing like that on a broken foot was crazy for me considering her abilities. When I then watched her programs in the individual event I was absolutely engrossed in both of them especially her Anna Karenina which had me basiclaly in tears especially when I realised that she had lost and after she was able to go and hug Alina (the first to congratulate her) i had basically no chance of not loving her for skating and her strength of mind despite the flaws that everyone seems to love to point out. For me she is a massive inspiration and role medal and I would credit her as being part of the reason for me being able to return to the sport that I am competitive and not taking the easier way out and just quitting when it got hard. I have loved watching her in Canada and how she has been welcomed by everyone and how happy she seems to be nowadays and I would 100% say that if it hadn't been for her I wouldn't have gotten into figure skating and stayed into it after the winter olympics and thus found other skaters to root for though Zhenya will always be my number 1. I am so excited to see what she can come up with and how she will perform next season because if anyone has the ability to make these hard decisions changing her coaching staff and massive gambles whilst still coming back stronger then ever it is Zhenya and I am so excited to be able to root for her in live time instead of merely bingewatching all of her programs by myself.

I think at least they will give Zhenya at least one "warhorse", I just hope that they are not 2, because it would be very boring. It is not as if Wilson will do everything his way and will force an image for her, producing it fictitiously, they also want to listen to the ideas that she has, what things she would like to experience and project, etc.
I really like that there is at least a month gap between her GP assignments, it's true that by competition is a little more complex than the others, but that time will allow they to make adjustments, evaluate what is not working.

Waiting for the announcement of the programs * crossed fingers for some tango *

I am convinced that they’ll give Zhenya at least one warhorse :( I think it may be Tango SP and Warhorse FS, but I hope I’m wrong about the latter unless they really do a stellar job. At least it won’t be Carmen bc Gabby and Alina are both doing it - I strongly dislike Carmen

Carmen died in 1988 when Katarina Witt absolutely slew it. :dance:
They should have buried it with dignity and left it in the tomb; no one has done it better since. Just put the Carmen zombie down like a dog now and be done. :noshake:
 
I hope Zhenya won’t do a war horse because one of the things that makes her unique is that she doesn’t need to rely on the music and it’s connotations to tell a story however David Wilson does seem to be a fan. On the plus side she will defocnot to Carmen or POTO as Zagi is doing them or Swan lake as that was done last year and probably not R and J because Alena is and Zhenya will probably want to separate herself from that so at least that rules out four of the bigger warhorses so I’m not sure what she would choose if she went down the warhorse route

Yeah, DW is quite the fan of Warhorses. However, he did manage some really interesting programs for Yuna (Dance Macabre, Kiss of the Vampire - I also really liked Guys and Dolls for Javi), so I have my fingers crossed that they won't be too obvious. I have always really appreciated Eteri team's choices of music for Zhenya, as they were always original and contemporary.

I will be okay with a nice tango in the SP and hopefully DW will pick something original or at least not overused to death for the FS.

I don't like the idea of a warhorse, but I just hope it's something that suits Zhenya. Not sure if tango is a good idea...

I won't budge on the tango ;) I really, really want to see her do something completely different and new for her, and I think she is intense enough to pull a tango off!

especially if it's variations on dark eyes

I would like to see her do a tango too ! As Zhenya also has a say in what program she’ll do, I hope she’ll avoid warhorses... (even if there’s some I actually like).
 
Generally I really dislike warhorses but there are songs which I think wouldn't be too bad. If Kostornaia didn't already skated to R&J I'd love Zhenya having program to Korzeniowski's version. Also Per Una Cabeza wouldn't be bad if we are talking about tango. I just don't want her to skate to Carmen, Moulin Rouge, scheherezade or any piece of music David already made choreo to.
 
i just hope it won't be a turandot (the warhorse i dislike the most :biggrin:) or any of american musicals
and i don't like tango for singles in general + it's going to be a tango romantica season in ice dance so there will be enough of roses in hair and black and red dresses...

I am too, I can’t wait to see what their going to be. David is going to add a fresh creative voice and feel to her choreography. [emoji106]
 
I’ve heard a lot of people say that rachmaninoff- piano concerto No. 2 could be a good choice for zhenya. What do you guys think?
 
Is anyone planning to go to IDF?
I bought the tickets and now I only pray that she will be 99% healthy next season.

Personally, I really want to go but end of November is a hectic time in uni in France and Grenoble is a bit far 😞
I’m still thinking about it since I want to cheer for Zhenya !
