The most expensive skates in history »

Dan Milson, public relations specialist at John Wilson Blades and Skates, in an interview with BUSINESS Online, talked about the intricacies of creating a unique sports inventory.

- Yes, this is real gold, 24 carats. Pink it is called because of a specific, unusual color, but in matter it is the same gold. It became famous after the appearance of Iphone Rose Gold, but there is no gold in the phone, it's an imitation. As far as we know, these are the first skates made of gold. These are the most expensive skates in the history of sports, their cost can be compared with a sports car. We do not know what she will do with them, will act with them or not, we only know that she asked our mutual friend - Misha Ge - to make these skates. Blades did about a month.

It was an honor for us to work on such an ambitious project, it's very interesting! Our whole team was working on this difficult task. We did not set conditions for strength, but we ourselves decided that skates should not yield to anything ordinary. We conducted a series of tests - you can ride in them safely, jump too. They are even stronger than simple skates. Now I'm even wondering if she will come out on the ice in these skates, we'll wait for her feedback. We have a lot of experience in making skates, but Medvedeva's order is very special, we will not forget it. I think this is an excellent advertisement of our company, "he added.

If love to go but I’m in school and way to broke to be able to afford tickets in November :(:(. If I could though I would because I would love to see her live considering how compelling she is via video.

Wow that’s more expensive than what I thought ! But did they gift them to her ?

THere are some news in Russian media about Evgenia and Kristian Kostov. I think if it’s true may be sometimes they’ll make a join performance :-) As I remember he is a composer besides singing.

I thought the skates were a gift, but now I'm not so sure

Generally companies handle skates and boots to skaters as gifts in terms of partnership. It's also promotion for company and top skaters are actually sponsored this way. Boots and skates (even normal one) are really expensive and professional skaters change them many times during the season so it's big help ;) I doubt Zhenya had to pay for her 24k gold beauties

:eeking:

I hope she didn't pay for that, but if the PR of John Wilson says it makes them a good advertisement, I suppose they offered her the skates as sponsors, which is reassuring

Yes exactly, much like how I imagine Nike provide all of her training apparel as part of their contract she has with them. [emoji106]

Yeah, it wouldn't make sense for her to do it unless it was a sponsored thing. I can't see why she would do it otherwise!

There should be an interview coming out with Zhenya from John Wilson Blades. Maybe we will then know the answer to your question.

Do you guys think she will skate with her gold blades?

I guess so, from what we saw on instagram she trains with them (or at least she has those skates with her at her training sessions), so ... :scratch2:

I think she will since she was so proud to show them to all of us (at least I hope so) !

I feel like she has to train with them to get used to them though. Slightly nervous about the fact that I think gold is denser then steel so these blades will be heavier then the normal ones and the gold is also softer. I thought that they would be max gold leafed but she will deco have to train with them if she wants to be able to compete wearing them and imo it would make no sense to just use them for shows even if they are pretty

I don't think the weight is a major problem, except if the blades are solid gold. The process they use to deposit gold on the steel is electrochemical and the layer is just a couple of atoms thick.

I don‘t think Zhenya had to pay for the skates. That‘d be insane, really, if they cost as much as a car. I guess she could afford them by now but seriously, I doubt she would do it. I think they were sponsored.

Regarding the question whether she‘ll use them in competition: If she‘s not training in them, I doubt it. She wouldn‘t take any risks as in not having tried them before even if they‘re not supposed to be different. Other skaters had special blades, too, didn‘t they? (Not rose gold, though, but black, I think. Did they use it in competition?) I hope she‘s using them in some of her exhibitions, though, they‘re too beautiful to not be used.
