Yes but that‘s exactly why I‘m happy she‘s with Brian now. Because that‘s exactly what happened to him. I wasn‘t around to witness the Battle of the Brians but I read interviews and articles with Orser and he said he couldn‘t even watch his FP for about 10 years because it haunted him that much to never have won the Gold. I desperately, desperately want this OGM for Zhenya and I will be rooting for her all the way and cheer her on with every step she takes on the ice, every spin, every jump, every fall. But I think we all know that there might be a chance she will never get that OGM. And that‘s why I feel someone like Brian could help her realise that she is ALREADY one of the greatest and that yes, you can have a great life and a great career and great success even without the OGM. I don‘t think an experience like this ever ”fully lets you go“. As in - I can‘t confirm it of course - I believe that Orser still sometimes thinks about Calgary but not in the way he did years ago. Zhenya will think about the Pyeongchang Olympics forever, too. And while there will probably always be the pang of not having won the Gold there‘s also so much more: the Olympic moment, the incredible skates she put out despite being injured, the fact that she even made it to the Olympics with all the stones that were thrown in her way (all the Russian-doping-issue-drama and her foot injury), the Team Event. I think there is so much more to this Olympic Dream than “just“ the Gold. Of course, Olympic Gold is the biggest goal of all but if someone could help her should she not win an OGM, it would be Brian. Because he‘s been through this and look at how his life turn out.
Still. That‘s pretty far away, really. Because, well, 4 years are a lot of time. A lot of things can change. And it‘s not like everything‘s lost, not at all. I still believe Zhenya has a shot at the Gold and I wish her to have an Aljona-moment. I want it so badly for her. She deserves it so much. So, I‘d say our duty is to cheer Zhenya on on her way and support & celebrate her. She‘s not done yet. She can do a lot of things. And just because it went this way for Brian doesn‘t mean it will be the same for her, too. Just in case... if... well, if - he‘ll be there for her and support her in a way Eteri couldn‘t. (not to bash her I don‘t think anybody who hasn’t experienced the same really could)
I agree with what you’ve said in this post and your previous one. [emoji4] At this point in her career I feel confident that Evgenia is in the best possible place at TCC. With Brian’s experience and his teams guidance she has the greatest chance to achieve much more in this sport, along with years of longevity at the highest level. As a relativity new fan (since the Olympics) I feel I can really invest in her as a fan as she wants to compete for many years to come and hopefully enjoy even more success. She’s accomplished so much already! [emoji106]
I can’t imagine how hard it was for her fans during this past season. Considering everything she went through she still skated two clean and memorable performances and her OG silver medal in singles was still an amazing accomplishment! In any sport these kind of elite athletes have a great knack of bouncing back after a tough loss. Evgenia’s done everything she can to do this too and like everyone else here I’m really excited for her new season!
I really want to see her win that gold medal in Beijing 2022, and I truly believe when the time comes she will have a great chance at achieving this. [emoji4] For now one of the things I’m interested in is how many Grand Prix’s, Nationals, Europeans and World Championships she can add to her collection before 2022. Will she match or break any more records? She’s going to have some tough competition but I can’t wait to see what she can accomplish next! [emoji4]

Let's wish Zhenya a lot of luck for the upcoming season! :agree:
