Evgenia Medvedeva

So the first time we will get to see her new programs will be at Skate Canada? I can't wait.

I really hope she realizes her dream of an OGG in Beijing but it willl be hard. I hope she is getting daily physio. I read that Tessa Virtue gets some sort of treatment every day - physio, osteopath or massage - when she was still competitive at least.

In competition yes, but there are the Russian Test Skates where she's going to present her programs in front of RusFed officials to receive feedback. They are going to be in the beginnings of September, but only the FS will be open to the public.

Every time there is less to see zhenya in action !!:drama: I know that the tests are only a small indicative and that many things are corrected after these, but still the emotion is great. Surely Zhenya misses a lot to her family, her grandmother, to Jerry!

absolutely, especially since there is so much anticipation about her new programs under new coaching.

I‘m so excited already. Honestly, being a fan is so... exhausting. Anticipating a skater‘s program and then maybe even watching live and hoping that everything turns out fine... I mean, Zhenya‘s been very generous with us in the past and her consistency but last season was hard to watch. And now it‘s again full of nervousness with all these big chances she‘s made to her situation after the OG. Still, the new season can‘t come fast enough! And I do hope somebody will (illegally) film the SP despite it not being open to viewers and generously provide some footage to us greedy fans.

When it was first announced that Brian would coach Zhenya, he said that his first goal was to make sure she was injury free & in really good physical condition. Do you think that might involve improving her upper body stronger? Would that help with her rotation speed during the jumps?

Yes, I believe they are working towards making her stronger overall. She already seemed faster and more powerful at the Dreams on Ice show, which as two weeks after she started training with Brian.

I think this season watching Zhenya will be exciting and terrifying equally!

Exciting because everything is so new: coach, choreographer, style... everything will be a complete surprise and it will be so cool to see her grow and become a different skater.

Terrifying because she took a big gamble and we don’t know what to expect anymore: will she still be consistent? Will Brian work for her?

I cannot wait to find out, I have a good feeling though ;)

I totally agree! I can’t wait for the season to begin! [emoji4]

I like this edit. Kudos to whoever made it. The lyrics seem strangely fitting to Zhenya.

Oh, ye of so little faith
Don't doubt it, don't doubt it
Victory is in my veins
I know it, I know it
And I will not negotiate
I'll fight it, I'll fight it
I will transform

I hope to see this as the metaphor for her new season with Brian. Transformation, fighting, faith and victory. ;)

When the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, you're out of time
But still, I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise

Well, I take this verse quite literally. Fire at her feet? Quite fitting if you think of last season... but I guess it was only one foot and the fire was more inside than outside. Vultures... sports.ru anyone? They‘re quite vocal about calling her done, saying she‘s literally out of time due to the Russian quad juniors turning senior...

Too bad it‘s Zhenya Medvedeva they‘re dealing with. Let them watch her rise to that top spot on the podium again next season! :dev3:
