I think Zhenya spoiled us all a bit with a lot of Instagram stories and photos throughout her time in Canada. I miss her posts already and it’s only been a few days
So, it wasn‘t referring to Evgenia at all but to Eteri? That would be quite hilarious.![]()
As per usual, TSL accomplishes its task of making itself more visible by piggy-backing the human tendency of letting gossip and rumours take over their mind, spreading their malice by inserting the usual question of "but what if it really happened?" into the thoughts of people who listen to them, oblivious to the possibility that the boogie men might disappear if enough people stopped talking about them.
It doesn't make sense for any of them to have said that actually.
Women in Russia, as elsewhere, need education and employment to be secure.
While there are some general social pressures to have children early, we've seen no evidence to support that in the elite skating milieu.
From my understanding, many Sambo70 skaters and those of other elite training centres follow university programs once they complete high school.
If anything both Eteri and the federation might have expressed concerns that Zhenya will miss out on some of Moscow University's programs that lay the foundation for coaching and choreography.
My thought is that we should be looking at the season by season incremental improvements that were made on Javier Fernandez' jumps.
While he wasn't at Zhenya's level when he came to TCC, it was a long slow progress to improve his technique.
And there was significant progress on his edge at take-off on the 3Lz even in the last two seasons. 18 months ago it was easy to see in slow motion that he had a tendency to rock back to towards the inside edge just before take-off. But by last winter he was avoiding edge calls and !s.
Orser has the reputation, as David Wilson pointed out in his interview, as being a 'fixer'. He can see a problem and its causes, break it down for the skater and work away at it. Sometimes a small change makes a big difference, other times it's step by step.
At this point it's a thing that gets brought up over and over again among Russian skating fans and has become somewhat of a meme. I have a strong feeling someone told it to the TSL guys and it morphed into "Eteri and Rusfed told Evgenia to go have babies".
Yes, that's exactly what I'm hoping for. It would be unrealistic to expect big changes in one season, but steady incremental changes would be great.
I agree. I wonder how much can be seen from ACI\test skates. I know Brian has said multiple times that it takes at least a year for his method to truly start working, so I doubt we'll see anything major at all, but still... maybe some tiny improvements![]()
You guys might be interested to know that Brian sometimes favorites TSL posts on Instagram. Granted those are usually pictures, but it suggests the possibility that he doesn’t think Dave / TSL are complete trash.
Yeah, maybe a bit. Seeing real change would certainly take more time than 2.5 months. But I'm so excited to see the choreo and the layout of the jumps (and which jumps? ahhh)! I have no idea what to expect, honestly. And not just from Zhenya, but from any of her competition either... this is going to be such an exciting start into the season. Everything's new, I feel like I can make no predictions whatsoever.
He's entitled to his wrong opinion. I don't particularly hold Orser in high regards either.
I think TCC coaches and choreographers are busy and have no time to listen to all the trash from TSL videos. I do not have time to do that either. Usually it's the fans who listen to every details notice how gossipy and trashy TSL is. I think Brian, Tracy or DW mostly just see TSL as a podcast source and nothing more. They simply like the photos and videos on their timelines. I think you are reading too much into this. Sometimes I watched fancam recorded by TSL not because I like them or something. It is simply convenient and it is there. You guys might be interested to know that Brian sometimes favorites TSL posts on Instagram. Who says your opinion is the right one, though? No offense but seriously. I don‘t like TSL a lot either but they do get some things right. Not very often but still.
I'm entitled to my wrong opinion too. I don't particularly feel like changing it. Frankly, don't care enough.

Hi - this thread is about Evgenia, not TSL, so I don’t want to derail it by discussing TSL at length. I posted that for information only; people can draw their own conclusions.
Back to Evgenia, I can’t wait to see her new programs and the changes she’s made!
