Evgenia Medvedeva

What about Elizabet? She trains with Eteri now and is looking a lot better

Elizabet has never medaled at a Grand Prix before. She’s always had potential so of course she is a competitor but not what I would consider as main competition. I will say that her skating will probably improve with Eteri because she will have less visa problems and be closer to home. The reason she had to leave Russia was dumb anyway but I digress

I’m going to have to look at the Skate Canada schedule because it starts the day after my birthday and I need to know if I’m going to be at the bars trying to refresh scores like I was for ACI 😱

I must admit I am scared for how Zhenya's scores dropped, unwarrantedly. She actually has already improved SS, flow, and some technique and yet her scores dropped so much. She was almost 40 points behind Alina's score. I know Alina was perfect and Zhenya made some mistakes but I think Evgenia's score should have been and last season would have been, higher.
Orser and Zhenya need to change the programs and techniques to get higher GOE. I hope they think about this and have a plan.

I have just read a few old treads on Edge about Yuzuru's coaching change to Orser and his first season at TCC. In case some of you are still worried about Evgenia and her work with TCC , I want to share some "gems" with you

When his coaching change was announced:
-that's no good
-that a no-win situation
-stupid decision
-Orser won't teach him anything
-can people write to JSF to change that decision
-Hanyu is a bad person because he left his coach
-he shouldn't change coaches in a middle of a quad
-he for sure hurt his coach's feelings
-I liked him because of his relationship with his old coach
-nobody will want to sit with Orser in Pyeongchang
-Orser is cold in K&C, can't imagine him sitting with Hanyu in K&C
-Orser won't carry Pooh for Hanyu because he thinks he is too good for that
-Hanyu did it for fame and for opportunity to sign up with a big sports agency like IMG

Obviously, it all turned out true :sarcasm:

During his first season with Orser:
-everything regressed: his skating skills, his spins, his posture, artistry... etc
-his stamina is worse
-Orser can't hide Hanyu's asthma
-Orser makes him backload his jumps
-Orser limited Hanyu's ice shows, so because of him Hanyu can't earn much money
-he regressed mentally
-his FS is boring
-he's close to his ceiling, he won't improve much
-after this season he will go back to Nanami
-4S he learnt from Orser is ugly
-his 4S is inconsistent, they should remove it

Of course Evgenia's situation (including comments about her) is completely different but doesn't some of those comments sound familiar? They have the same vibe...
I hope that in a year or two we can also look back at some treads about Evgenia and laugh at negative comments
She might struggle a little bit this season but I am sure she will improve a lot :)

I wish Zhenya wasn’t spending time doing a photo shoot at this point.

If this photoshot means money needed to pay for training in Canada I don't see what's a problem. Besides if it caused disruption in her training I doubt they would let her go

These are funny materials to read right now. Thanks for organizing them. That makes my day
Probably should be put in Hanyu's fan fest as well.

I think she knows certainly better than us how to spend her time. She has a trainingsplan and we should not be worry.

Not a photoshoot, they "filming something awesome for my beloved Japan".
she looks so good here 😭❤️
Love her bang and costume :luv17:

Whole post

I remember all those conversations. Also in context, TCC didn't have the reputation it has now. Up to that point, Brian only had Yuna Kim as a notable student and that wasn't too long after their very public and dramatic spilt. Brian did have Javi by then, but only about a year.

And if you thought Zhenya losing to Bradie was bad, that doesn't even compare to Yuzuru's free skate meltdown at Skate America 2012 after winning the SP. And I saw that LIVE.

She has a training schedule that fortunately isn't 24h a day of skating - she can take a couple hours for doing an ad that will bring her money to pay for said training

If you'd like to get into this further, please join us on the Evgenia Medvedeva's 2018-2019 season thread on The Edge.

We're doing our best to keep her fan fest a positive and safe place for fans to cheer.

Come on now. Bradie skated her best and she only lost by a couple of points even after falling and messing up a jump in both the SP and FS. If Evgenia skated clean her scores would be a lot higher. There's a lot of potential for both of these programs to be improved upon where she could beat Zagitova even.

I should have added an emoticon -- I was speaking in hyperbole! I don't think it's that big of a deal that Zhenya lost to Bradie. However, my main point is that we need not worry about that because Yuzu definitely had his moments in meltdowns that was far worse then what Zhenya "had" at ACI.

Zhenya looks beautiful in her Instagram post. That is one of my favorite dresses of hers - from off season exhibitions right? I actually loved all of her dresses from the shows she did after the Olympics.

So we are getting a new dress for the short. I think the free also deserves a new one. I like the idea of lace and some ruffles - like this:
