GPF isn't unrealistic. Yoloaxel likes maths and so do I, so I'll try to do some scores predictions as well :) :
SP: Fall in SP cost Zhenya approximately 12 points (including GOE) and affected PCS. If everything goes well at IdF, we can expect maybe 75+ points.
FP: Evgenia scored 76 in TES but went down to 66 due to URs, e , ! , Vs (probably because of her nervousness - everything was great in practise, of course except the Lutzes) and got low PCS. If she replaces one of the Lutzes in FP with flip, for example, and fixes her spins and URs, she might get 150+ points.

That would be together 225-230 points. Plus Rika is inconsistent, so Zhenya's chances for gold medal are quite high.
(Maybe 2nd place would be enough, that depends on other GPs, anything can happen.)

And I want to say a BIG thank you to people who were at SCI (Medvedeva Nation from Tapatalk ;)) for their updates and amazing photos and videos. I hope you enjoyed watching Zhenya (and others) live and it was a great experience for you :)

IdF is the last GP, that's good, I think we all need some rest.

How about if Rika actually skated clean? 218.16 was her score in Napela, with a fall on a 3A in the short. How much higher do you think her score would be if she actually landed all 3As in her program?

Scores at Challengers are usually higher than at GPs. So I hope everything will work out for Zhenya ;)
 
In response to some of the recent comments: I don‘t think she‘ll be unbeatable this season but I don‘t think this is either her or Brian‘s plan. They said they‘re looking at long-term and while they of course want to reach certain goals (like earning a ticket to the GPF and medalling there for example) they also know that it‘s important to know that they‘ll lose some competitions on the way and that it‘s okay and maybe even necessary. I do believe that Zhenya‘s program have higher scoring potential, especially with a more lenient technical panel. At ACI she got 133 for a program with a fall on an underrotated triple, a step-out and a level 1 spin. At SCI she skated cleanish and only got 137. So, with a more generous panel and her fixing all those things that are currently bringing her score down (spins & step sequences levels, e on lutz, UR) + avoiding mistakes like in the SP + higher PCS resulting from a clean skate, I do think she can score about ~145, maybe even reaching 150. But that would involve a lot of things, mainly Zhenya not making any mistake at all and the technical panel being nice on her lutz edge because I do think it will take some time before she fixes it, especially in competition.

So, with that being said, I don‘t want to look at who needs to fail in order for Zhenya to reach the final. And while I of course automatically do it in my head, calculate her chances, I think it‘s a bit wrong to openly express the hopes that others have bad performances. I know we all secretly do that when our favourite athlete is concerned, I‘m no difference here, but I think it‘s better if we focus on what Zhenya needs to do to win, not what the others need to not do.

She has a competitive spirit and a determination and strength beyond anything I‘ve ever seen from such a young woman like her. I think if she sets her mind to something, she can do it. It‘s one month. We‘ve seen tremendous of improvements in practice already, she now has to concentrate and gain more confidece so that it can actually translate to the competition. We‘ll have to be patient which admittedly isn‘t my greatest strength. But from what we’ve seen, Brian and her communicate well, they seem like a great team, so I‘m allowing myself to be fairly confident about GP France. She definitely has the abilities to do it. But she can‘t make mistakes and luck has to be on her side too, so that things like the freak fall in the SP don‘t happen again. I‘ll be cheering her on of course and I‘m happy a place like her fanfest exists. :cheer: :clap:

I’m not too good at calculating actual scores but estimated... a 3A’s BV is around 8 point. If she fell then she got about -4 points + a bit of deduction in PCS. So, if we assume she gets her normal GOE which is 2.24 in Nepela it would be about 7 points higher. She also had a slight mistake on her 3S according to the score sheet because she got a small deduction. So maybe another point for GOE there. So, in between 224-225. GOE was pretty generous at this event, though, so maybe a bit less. Don‘t kill me if I‘m doing absolute bs right now, Math really isn‘t my strong point. Just correct me. 😅😅

But Rika is definitely her strongest rival in France. She‘s a strong contender for major medals in general this season. Those 3As are nothing to laugh at. But it‘s not only Rika. Mai Mihara while a bit unspectacular almost never makes mistakes. Bradie and Masha are a bit question marks (the latter more than the former!) but if they keep it together (Bradie right now seems far more likely to be able to do that but we don‘t know whether or not it might change) they can also post high scores. All in all, Zhenya needs to be CLEAN and with that I mean no URs and no losing levels on steps or spins and no e calls. I think she knows that, though and now that her competitive spirit is awakened, we might see two inspired skates like her FS, full of energy. She skated better when everything was at stake so maybe now that she knows her GPF ticket depends on those two performances, she could be better than ever. She could also crumble under the pressure but while that is always a possibility it honestly does not seem like Zhenya at all. She seems to actually thrive from the pressure and do better than ever e.g. Olympic FS, her FS here... She‘s a strong woman. I hope we‘ll see the best version she has to offer at that moment in France.

Wow. Every time Zhenya does an interview, she surprises me. How can that girl only be 18? She‘s so wise and intelligent yet in so many ways also young and fresh and full of energy.

The part about the Olympics... I think we can‘t imagine what she went through and what it must have felt like knowing you might not make it after all you‘ve done to achieve your dream. But she made it in the end and got two medals!! I also love her humour, how she‘s joking about her and Kristian having something in common because they both came in second at their respective competitions. And can we talk about her ex! Choreographed by herself and such a wonderful program!! And here we were marvelling about it and wondering who the creator was - and she did it all by herself! That‘s one of the great qualities Zhenya has: she‘s not only restricted to skating. Her interests and abilities are so widespread. She is a Russian girl who has her love for Korean music, Japanese culture and currently lives in Canada. I hope Russia realises that they have a pretty powerful international ambassador for their sport in her.

About her SP: After recovering from the shock, I also think it was helpful for her in the long run. She never has to recover from such a blow in the SP, it must have terrified her and she made it very clear how she almost gave up. Brian helped her get through it which really shows their mutual understanding, I think. Now she knows that she can come back from and fight through everything that might happen. It must give her lots of strength and self-confidence.

Overall: What an amazing interview.

I agree with Tracy that after the fall she let a couple of things slip on her step sequence but you can see the work with Paige is helping a lot. Her traveling has become minimal and the spins look faster. I suspect that her back injury was/is more serious than we thought and it’s taking a long time to heal. It could be affecting even her sit spin position

I agree on everything - I think the goal this season isn't at all her being unbeatable, because you just can't do that when you're rebuiding yourself from scratch. Brian had warned us and I respect that it will take at least a year before she's back on track 100%.

That said, I think her FS has higher scoring potential than 145 if she goes truly, truly clean (no edge calls, no UR, no lost levels on spins) and that would make the PCS grow too. If she hadn't botched her combo and the subsequent spins in the SP I believe she would have scored around 72\74 points, and if her TES hadn't dropped by 10 points she already would be at 147 there. So there's SO much room for improvement for her.

She needs a win at IdF unless some key skaters miss their chances in the previous competitions, and I think she knows this and is prepared to fight and to give it her all. Rika is a monstruous opponent with incredible technical abilities, so if she should beat this new, work-in-progress Zhenya, there would be no shame or judgement in that. I just want Zhenya to put up her best fight (and please whip out your -3lo combo because they look wonderful girl!)
 
Based on the recent interview with Brian, I came to the conclusion that this long-term goal is really their first priority and not the current season. I thought about this a lot and it seems actually reasonable, although people are confused about her not-winning layouts. I guess she could have easily taken the season off and concentrate only on her training with the new team but she was off competitions last season already and this definitely had an impact on her mental condition. Not to mention her scores. Most probably RusFed had a say, too.

Furthermore, competing while fixing her technique is the real chance to incorporate those improvements when it actually matters - in competitions. One of the things that stroke me, while I was watching her FS during SC, was that she was fierce as she used to be, but also that her jumps looked as her old ones, there was a slight difference to the ones at practice. Take for example her flip - the full blade assistance was again there, where as at ACI or also Test skates her toe pick appeared to be better. This also explains why she was so...concentrated at the ACI, as if she was trying to slow herself down and really execute those jumps right. To the contrary, at Skate Canada her priority was to be clean in order to podium, because she still has this competitiveness - so muscle memory and old modus went on. This only proofs that even what appears to be smaller changes than fixing a wrong edge take a lot of time and practice but mainly trying to execute them under pressure is what it counts.

Also, if we compare this season with what we expect the next season to be (at least 2 power Russian Juniors coming up), now is really the right time to be fixing things, whereas by next year she should be already having a better technique and executing harder combos in order to stay competitive. So, experimenting with the Lz in competition will be then too late. Now really seems to be the right time. The Russian ladies field is also currently not so strong - of course, Alina and Liza mean business but I think Evgenia has every chance to take the 3rd spot if she goes clean.

Becuase..look from the different side - she might now execute her secure 3S-3T and 3F-3T combos, 3Loo and ditch all the 3Lz out but the result will be that Alina will still beat her. So she might secure a silver medal position for one season. And then? What happens next year?
 
Does anybody know why was she not using her rose gold blades at Skate Canada? I hope they are back for her GP in France.
 
I have no clue about blades but her new ones look "lighter" and they might be helping her for better skating skills. :scratch3:

No full blade on the flip- you can clearly see it when you reduce the speed to 0,25. At ACI she had a full blade on the flip;)
