Evgenia Medvedeva

I love Javi so much. I remember Brian saying that he could tell when Javi hadn’t eaten breakfast (probably from oversleeping) and so he would keep a stash of protein bars at his desk for those few days. TCC is an competitive environment, but it’s also nurturing. Coaches can’t win competitions for you but they set you up for success and the training environment matters

I think Brian also said that Evgenia has asked him and Tracy to be more critical. But there’s a way to be critical and honest without crossing the line into verbal abuse.

People who underestimate Janny will eat their words tbh. I did in the past before I was a fan lol

In her interview after ACI, Evgenia said that Javi really helped her to make the decision to change coaches & move to Canada. He sounds like a wonderfully supportive friend.

Brian himself said that his method takes about 18 months to fully integrate. Zhenya has been working with him for less than 6 months. We need to give them time.

I also think that Eteri’s “It’s my way or you’re out” method of coaching might be good for undisciplined kids, but may be overkill for an intelligent 18 year old with a perfectionist streak. She’s ready to be treated like an adult in terms of her skating.

Okay let's play the game now. Can the mathematcian's tell us if new windows have opened for Zhenya in terms of points she needs?

Well, Zhenya’s chances for the GPF just went up.

She still HAS to get silver, there’s no doubt about it. However, she doesn’t have to beat Kaori’s total.

Before she needed a silver with above a total of 213.41 (I believe)

Now she just needs a silver with a score above 198.8 to make the final and win the tiebreaker.

But still, it has to be silver.

Happy that her chances have gone up. I think after SC Evgenia is determined like never before. She will fight to get that spot

Does this factor in Konstantinova too? If she gets Bronze next week then she'll have Silver+Bronze too

Correct me if I‘m wrong but Stasya‘s score with which she got silver was even lower than Zhenya‘s bronze medal winning score. So, I think if she get‘s bronze and Zhenya gets silver, Zhenya will be in front of her in the tie breaker.

Go get that silver Zhenya!! You can do it!!!!

God, I‘m anxious already.

Yes, Excel confirmed this.
On the best scenario, if she wins with more than 224.43 points she gets the 4th spot to the GPF (supposing Rika 2nd).

WHAT DOES ZHENYA NEED TO MAKE GPF?

Following today's results at Rostelecom, to make GPF Zhenya doesn't need to score a 213+ anymore. She needs:

-A gold at IDF
-A silver at IDF with a score higher than 198.80 - of course, in order to get silver in France she will most likely have to score higher than 198.90, but she is safe as long as she gets a silver there.

This is great news for Zhenya after her freak mistake in Canada, I hope she will manage to skate clean and grab a gold or a silver in Grenoble! It's all up to her now :agree:
[NB this is the most likely scenario, it doesn't take into account a wild horse like Bradie or Mai winning the event]

This is what I am trying to figure out for the top six. Three currently are guaranteed right now. The big thing is who will get gold in France. That one person will decide the next three skaters I think because there are several who could leapfrog just by grabbing gold I think. People need to realize there are three spots left right now not one. And with those three I think there are six skaters vying for them with a few only able if they get gold (like bradie).

Alinka
Liza
Satoko

They're going for sure

Rika is very probable, I think she just needs to finish above 4th (I don't know for sure)

Stasya will probably not get silver at IDF, maybe not even bronze. She's not that consistent and at Helsinki she had a lot of uncalled UR's. Who knows? But the field in France is packed.

Kaori is probably going

Sofia going will depend on Zhenya and everyone else

Overall France is just insane. So many things could happen. For all we know, Rika could bomb and Bradie could win. We just don't know.

Ideally at the minimum we need
1. Rika
2. Evgenia (with a total above Sofia's)
3. Mai, Bradie, or anyone really

The best option (maybe not the most realistic)
1. Evgenia
2. Rika
3. ?

I hope Zhenya will grab gold in France. Not only so the tsarina makes it but it will help out my other pick as well. :)

Well I'll be in Grenoble cheering her on live, so I hope she slays!

I was heartbroken today for Yuzuru, so I hope Zhenya will qualify and brighten my mood up :)
