Evgenia Medvedeva

I do think that her next SP needs to be more hers. Something she feels and can get lost in. A story of sorts. She seems more comfortable with her FS in that way. Just something to work with on with her coaches. I said it before but will say it again: the theme of this season for her is “rising.” It is brutal and full
of suffering and growth but in the end she will be a stronger skater. A skater who will have a greater story to tell and will last. She has grown since her last performance. She will grow again. Be patient.

Agree. Even German Eurosport commentators said that it is not over for Evgenia. They mentioned how Elizaveta was in the same place after Worlds 2015, how she struggled after that but came back stronger than ever this year. They think Evgenia will also overcome this period and rise again.

Someone tell me how many points she needs to qualify for the final if she gets silver.

Sorry if it was said already

131

Oddly enough I am more mad about the spins than anything. She literally needs to start counting while she's spinning. I just.. she's giving away too many points.

Yeah. Its also an odd problem. Its not as if she's skating for the first time. She used to get those levels on the spin. Since Jason Brown had a similar error I am really curious to know what exactly is cosing the mistakes. Something in the training method?

Honestly I don’t really care about this competition or the GPF anymore, it’s russian nationals I’m worried about.

Her recent scores will not get her on the podium there

*Whishing*, I would like her to recycle her Ex "experience" and keep the technical elements and basic transitions (eagle, swing, that cross-grab spiral typical of her), it is a beautiful Eunadi melody (Maria bell is using it in the second half of her FS). I think that memorizing a choreo is not something difficult for the skater, what is more difficult is to distribute the technical elements to match the accents.

She could also recycle that beautiful gray-silver dress:drama:

just wishing... but actually I would like very much to happen.

Now it makes me nervous to watch the FS live. She still has chances of a podium (even gold if the others fail), my heart...

She has to be the third best among the seniors. The juniors will most probably have a higher standing but they wont be making the Euros and Worlds team.

Okay... I forgot that Nebelhorn scores tend to be a bit inflated. And that Zhenya needs to pass the tiebreaker with >198.7.

If Zhenya wins (not impossible) she's in. If Rika wins, and Zhenya is second, Zhenya needs 131.7.

It's not out of her reach, but I'm really worried about how she's doing mentally. If this kind of stuff keeps happening, needless to say I don't think it'll do favors for her confidence or consistency.

Did she have this spin issue in previous seasons and it is only getting called now?

Spin rules changed. It’s a lot of muscle memory to overwrite, and after the issue with the jump combo, she seemed off the music, which can lead to rushing a spin and not getting the required revs for the TP.

I think the problem is that she is nervous plus her back not being fully recovered from the injury. Nerves + pain is a huge source for errors

IMO the most likely team to go to euros is Alina, Liza and Evgenia. The other senior girls are not in perfect shape as well, but maybe gulyakova could fight for a spot.
I don't want to travel half of the world to Minsk to not see her there

Evgenia needs a silver medal with a score above 131.25 to make the final, but she will probably need more than that for the silver alone.

After some thinking, I’m kinda glad she messed up the short program because HOPEFULLY she will be angry like she was at skate Canada and nail every jump and have a perfect free skate

I think she always got level 4 on the spins and steps. Eteri's girls never loose points on that stuff, with the exception.of the StSq - occasionally there some Lvl3s but not with Zhenya. Thats what confuses me. I always thougth that elite skaters could use their own experience. Cant she integrate the same method she has been training with for so long? Or is it really the back issue..like is she in pain and thats the reason for not holding the position long enough?so many questions :sad21:
