Evgenia Medvedeva

"She needs 131 for GP Final."

"Mai got 133 at NHK with only one underrotation. That is beatable."

She got a 137.08 at Skate Canada in the free.

I think she always got level 4 on the spins and steps. Eteri's girls never loose points on that stuff, with the exception.of the StSq - occasionally there some Lvl3s but not with Zhenya. Thats what confuses me. I always thougth that elite skaters could use their own experience. Cant she integrate the same method she has been training with for so long? Or is it really the back issue..like is she in pain and thats the reason for not holding the position long enough?so many questions :sad21:

I don't want to start an argument, and I am not. I am just stating facts.

Eteri drills her girls on the spins. In a RT documentary, you can see her yelling (not really, I don't know how else to say it) at Alina that she needs to count in her head 8 revolutions on a spin position. Eteri told Alina to do 8.5 if she can't count. She doesn't let them lose levels.

I'm really afraid of zhenya tommorow because she already looked angry enough today, but instead of killing the jumps she was slow and out of focus. All the previous mistakes and the pressure overwhelmed her.
But Evgenia Medvedeva is not known for giving up

Yes, exactly. I remember that part too. Its a very odd situation

But Zhenya is already so hard on herself and intense. I can’t see how a coach being tough on her would help.

I may be projecting, but mostly, even if you're harsh on yourself, you still need someone that pushes you with the same intensity... but with another perspective. A mature and experienced one, a realistic one too. Because you may be giving energy in the wrong way, and in the wrong direction.

Brian is someone who can be harsh, but seems to be more about feelings than realism. At least with her. But I believe is because he is projecting a little his wish to have a new Yuna Kim. And she needed someone that was more about feelings than objectivity ( at least that is what I interpretated from what David Wilson and Brian say about her being always sad ). With Yuzuru he seems to be harsher and realistic ( maybe because really, he's trully intense, and they know each other for a longer time ).

I guess that is also the fact that she is maturing. Finally having some teenager experiences like rebellion and trying new things. While trying new things is good and healthy, that also comes with self discovery, and confrontation with reality when least expected.

Trully, I think that her breaking down completely, will be the most healthy thing. Why? Because she finally will have the need to revive, and leave some things behind completely.

You know, changing coaches and changing country seems like a big change and all, but the mind doesn't really process that fast. She trully needs time. Patience.

It must be trully scary really, being in her place. I can relate to that too though, since I did something similar.

I think she can do this, she has many people at her side. But, most of all, she is intelligent and strong willed. Has attitude. And that is the most important thing.

Exactly, I think it’s just a matter of reps right now. It’s frustrating it hasn’t been ironed out yet, but it’s not a difficult fix and they’ll get it ironed out.

Can we just appreciate that she got the highest GOE of all for the 2A... which was something nearly impossible 6 months ago? Changes come slow and hard, but sometimes a small step is big

Honestly, it only needs a day. A whole day just to drill spins, nothing else. From sunset to sunrise.

It's as simple as "Ok Zhenya, count three revolutions on this position, five on this one"

Get it into her head that she needs to spin around x amount of times and then change to this position, hold that for x amount of times, then change to this and hold x amount. She must count over and over and eventually it will be second nature. She will just know naturally how long she has to hold the position.

It's just frustrating when it can be such an easy fix. Too many points lost. Her freeskate at SCI could have been over 140 without the lost levels.

I dunno. Orser said in an interview immediately before this event that Med has been drilling spins in practice, and that it's about time they get the spins cleared out.

Maybe there's a lingering injury that's preventing the spins from being solid?

You should be a coach. Visit Toronto and do this with her?

I think she should try first to get rid of her sp dress, in case it's cursed.[/QUOTEanth

the whole program actually :palmf:

but enough with the nitpicking. lets pray for zhenya! we need to break the curse! пое́хали!
