This scenario is highly unlikely, given how patriotic Med is, and that if she does switch countries she'll be seen as a traitor in Russia for the rest of her life. Just look at the reaction to her switching coaches and multiply it by 100.
Tuk has ace in her sleeve called Triple Axel plus she has superb technique on her other jumps (the best triple lutz in business). Also even with her average spins she doesn’t get V for them and usually hits lvl4 except her combination spin. Her problems came from lack of motivation.
Also I don’t expect to fix 11 years of poor technique in 6 months. But I also don’t expect things to get worse. She is 3rd alternative for GPF in post Olympic season when some top names aren’t even present in GP field so excuse me for being extremely worried.
Realistically I think we all knew deep inside as did she that gpf is too soon. Yes it was he personal goal cause here wanted to prove it to everyone and to herself. But the problem is that it has I think to much pressure on her, healing her foot, still healing her back all those changes and pardon me but changing the layout in almost every competition, getting used to said new layouts, to the new training, new everything and adding to that the pressure of what feels more than half of the skating world, adding the fact that eteri also gave a lot of damaging comments(while i dont dislike eteri there are just things that an adult woman should now better which includes not throwing dirt on her exfavourite skater) it would have been ok if she had been angry about how zhenya left cause yes it was wrong that apparently zhenya hasnt told her personally but to basically tell the world that zhenya isn't talented, that alina was the drive Bening zhenya at the Olympics? To tell the world òf a private and deeply private conversation whose content is still in question?) Add to that the hate and negative press she gets it is too much in such a short time. While I applaud Brian for letting her choose her personal goals I think he also deep down knew it would hard to get to gpf in such a short time
I hope zhenya let's it all out hopefully in her grandmother's arms were she feels safe and secure. And than she has to stay off media until Russian nationals . She needs to mabye relax a bit. Now and that is why I think that going to gpf would have been a mistake , she isn't ready yet and its ok cause she is humans , humans are not perfect. I think the only one with the same amount of pressure and hate is alina, and she is struggling to with different things , but she doesn't need to get used to a new live, she still has the same trainers, same eating habits , same time zone, Ect. And mabye it was also to early for those two too meet again and to see her ex trainers again.
I hope she knows that we as her fans will always be there for her cheering for her. Damm I want to just beam myself to her right this instant and just hug her and tell her everything will be ok, and that she is already so amazing, and touched so many people's live and that those people love her soo much even if we don't know her personally [emoji173][emoji173][emoji173][emoji173][emoji173][emoji173]

Seeing Zhenya so upset made my heart break, and I can't imagine how upset she is right now. I just want to give her a big hug, because she's such a sweet girl who works hard and doesn't deserve the hate she gets (who does?). I know that people are going to eat her alive for finishing off the podium for the first time, but I can't do that. She's still the Zhenya that made me fall in love with the sport and still the Zhenya that I love to watch. It makes me upset to see her struggle, but I know that the struggles will help her learn. I can't believe that there's no GPF in her future and that she finished off the podium, but I guess we HAVE to see the good, the way Brian and Tracy will help Zhenya to do. At least she had one lutz, her double axel was improved, her choreo sequence and step sequence were fire. I know it will take a while for Zhenya to see the same success she used to have, but I believe that it will come.
It's not the end of her season. She has Russian Nationals, which will be hard, yes. I know that if she skates cleanly, she will have a chance at making it to Worlds. Even if she doesn't make Worlds this year, she has the SB and WS to get GP spots for next year. Brian's methods take 18 months, he said, and that will be GP season next year. She can be like Liza Tuktamysheva, who struggled for three seasons and is back with a vengeance. And it's not like she's already successful - she has world titles, Olympic medals, GPF titles, etc. But she keeps going, and I commend her for that. Because it can't be easy but she keeps doing it.
Good luck, Zhenya. Come out and slay them all.
We should all prepare for her to possibly not be sent to Euros and Worlds. And it's not the end of the world if she's not. Of course I don't want it to happen, but even if she does well at RusNats, there are 3 Russians that have had a better season than her.
The negatives: Even though she's had a rough start to the season, she could could well at one of these comps and get some confidence back. It would look better to outsiders looking in at her situation. She would be devastated.
The positives: That's just sooner that she can throw these programs away and start on next season. She'll have time to get comfortable with her environment and hammer her new technique in. If she's looking to raise her tech then that'd be a great time to do so.
I'm not saying this to be negative. We should just have realistic expectations and realize there are pros and cons to any outcomes that happen.

Guys, she probably can‘t change countries even if she wanted to. Russia would never release her. So it‘s pointless to even think about it.
Peace people!!!!! Relax! It will be okay. No worries. No rumors. No end of the world scenarios. Lower those tall bridges. Come back here all of you! She will learn and come back stronger. Back to training both physically and mentally for the next event. It will be okay.
And let me better reply to the rumors here because I see whatever I type from above will just strike up a thread. So need to be more blunt:
Coaching change: you nuts! This will work for her. This is the best place for her. She is improving. She now needs to focus on the mental. That’s all.
Country change: Rusfed won’t drop their biggest current skating personality. Non issue. It won’t happen now. It won’t happen when zhenya is kostners age. Drop it.
Conclusion: back to Canada and training and then nationals! Go Zhenya!!!!
Of course she won't change countries that would be ludicrous. People in Russia adore her and for good reasons and many reasons. She should learn from Liza and take a step back and figure it out as she grows she's only 19. It may be hard for her to be top three and Russia this year but after the first two and we know who they are the third spot is there for the taking. Nationals will be insane this year where's Zhenya returning home and Alina the Olympic champion and Eteris 3 brilliant Juniors there. One thing is for sure she will have the Russian crowd behind her and that will make her feel so good.
She speaks. She breaks. She reborns."I just wanted it so much, I pushed too hard, I let my mind flow, I just didn’t think. Yes, I gave up in this program and this is the moment that we will be working on."
:agree: is there any senior B comp in Jan or Feb she could go to to improve her SB score?
