Evgenia Medvedeva

She tried something new, and it didn't work out. There's no shame in that. But I think it's now time to consider a return to her old environment.
Sorry but this is just dumb, first no way would eteri take her back, second no way would zhenya go back there like a beaten dog begging to be let in again. She is better than that and has absolutely no need for that. And third she needs time and such changes take a lot of time , yuzuru only got used to Brian's methods after over a year. So calm the heck down would you please. It is not a technical problem she has right now but it is a mental one. Her techniques are getting better. We see that in her practises as clear as the day. She can and she will overcome this . I deeply believe in her . And that is what makes a real fan a real fan. You stand by her no matter what happens no matter if she wins or not. Anyone who doesn't is in my eyes sorry to say not a real fan to put it simply. Yes everyone can have a different opinion but no she didn't fail , the fact is she is human and no human is perfect. It is just not possible .why can't we give her the time she needs, why do we have to doubt her in her first y months already? There is no reason. And in my eyes its also good to experience some bad times , that's just how life goes. You fall down but the important thing is to stand up again and try again and that is what she is doing. And well better to fall down now and get better with the time than to be perfect now and later break down. This is a whole new learning experience for her and for us her fans. But why doubt her so soon? I will never ever doubt her and I will never stop being a fan and cheering her on. For me it is not important how many first places she has or doesn't have . As long as she is happy and healthy .

She is being there for six months, working on a new technique and y'all already asking for her to leave? her game is now mental. She has everything as we see in practice she now needs to trust in herself.

Peace people!!!!! Relax! It will be okay. No worries. No rumors. No end of the world scenarios. Lower those tall bridges. Come back here all of you! She will learn and come back stronger. Back to training both physically and mentally for the next event. It will be okay.

And let me better reply to the rumors here because I see whatever I type from above will just strike up a thread. So need to be more blunt:

Coaching change: you nuts! This will work for her. This is the best place for her. She is improving. She now needs to focus on the mental. That’s all.
Country change: Rusfed won’t drop their biggest current skating personality. Non issue. It won’t happen now. It won’t happen when zhenya is kostners age. Drop it.

Conclusion: back to Canada and training and then nationals! Go Zhenya!!!!

Thank you for this post. Just back to training. Back to addressing the issues she's facing. She loves skating and is determined to succeed, so she will. Maybe it will be next competition, maybe it will be next season, maybe it will be two seasons from now, but she will. The journey is what is going to make that moment, all of the moment that follow, so special. Let's enjoy the journey and know that these are the moments that will teach her and make her stronger.

Also- everyone if you're feeling sensitive right now, it's okay to not engage with the toxic parts of the skating community. Protect yourself for the toxicity. It's okay to check out if you need to. I know I will not be checking the Russian Ladies thread and won't be watching TSL. In fact, I'll probably exclusively only check this thread in regards to skating news. Don't feel bad if you need to do similar things <3 I'll be hoping that Zhenya does the same.

For the record, Russian Nationals are December 19 thru 23rd!

it's our next opportunity to see Zhenya skate (barring some other skating event)! And a long time for her to train and get ready.

So mark your calendars, peeps, December 19 thru 23rd!

Thank you so much! I'll try!

About the olympics, I was lucky. I volunteered myself for summer olympics in Rio -2016, as a lot of people! But almost 90% left after the games end and didn't stay for the para olympics. (most of people get paid to work for para olympics it's sad) I decided to stay for para too without asking payment for it and after that, they've been invinting me for all those events. Even don't know a lot about winter olympics I decided to go because they would pay me flight and hotel hahah and for my lucky again I was allowed to write a form about my preferences. I tried to work for FS schedule and they put me to work with the girls guiding them to the media's interviews and staff. Contact was a little restricted but see their routine, before and after the rink was a wonderful experience. They cry a lot behind the scenes and we see the effort they put on it with a different eye. In a closer way I think. Even the winners cry as a baby when they're off the camares. And I have to say, when Tessa and Scott, Alina, Evgenia and Yuzuru was on the rink, everyone around was speechless. You couldn't hear any noise. It was such a different feeling that I wont forget. That it's why I want Zhenya back.

Forget Rusfed. You know, if they abandoned the Tsarina then she could just be the Tsarina in exile. Any country would grab her to skate for them. She’d find sponsors. Of all the current skaters, barring the King (Hanyu), she has the greatest legion of fans. Rusfed would be idiotic to drop her. Other countries would be at her door moments later with bouquets of flowers and boxes of chocolates. And then when she wins the prix next year, Rusfed would have to eat horse. No rumors or overblowing things here. This is a learning season, one for growth and re-creating. Time to prepare for nationals with no pressure.

I support Zhenya to no end, but the Fed also dropped Yulia even when she had one of the biggest legion of fans. And she has said many many times she only wants to skate for Russia, I doubt she would change her mind about that.
It's really a shame this competition took the better of her. But I will still keep hope that this will have a positive outcome in the end. She has more time to stay in Canada and practice with Tracy and Paige (those spins need work!), even if Brian has to go to the GPF.
I really hope that Brian's absense won't throw her off at Nats, we know Tracy is going with her but I hope someone else does too, like David (though idk how busy he will be at the end of the year if Javi goes back and has to start working on his programs).

Thank you so much for this comment.

The positives are so good. Once the mental stuff is sorted out (and I do not underestimate that this may be difficult), she will be fine.

She wanted it so much, that it got to her. Which is unfortunate. Honestly, this competition, she lost, but she was not beaten (if that even makes sense). Which to me is so encouraging. There is space for her, she can come back and win. A year and a half; we are at month 5. Still will be a hell of a ride, but the promise is so strong; she needs to be patient. We need to be patient.

No edge call on the lutz. Great GOE on that second 2A. All done when she was not in the best psychological state for competing.

What did Brian say?

The German Eurosport Commentator criticized Orser's body language. How he was turned away from Evgenia in the K&C and looked away from her and basically left her alone emotionally and physically. The commentator but also said that maybe he just interpretes too much into the situation. I must say I am always happy how the German Eurosport commentator is so supportive of Zhenya and said that she will go through this dark time and come back stronger like Tuktamysheva after her dark time after 2015 Worlds.

And well she had a real Lutz for the first time, no edge call nothing, that is really great no matter how bad her skate was but it shows she is getting better technical wise. Now she has a month to work on her mental ability again. I think it quite good she doesn't have the pressure of gpf now she now has a months to train to relax a bit and get back up. And than show just what makes her so special.

Re Brian (I follow the TCC skaters more than others): with his other skaters he give them a moment for themselves to think about what happened and kinda like reflect for themselves for a while and doesn't speak a lot in case it can trigger more tears. I mean, if the skater seems ok he says one or two things, but if, like Evgenia they seem close to tears, he says even less.

In an interview he said at first its hard cause he needs to discover how the dynamic with the skater will work. I will give them a while, it took Yuzuru and Brian a while too and now they are close, and Yuzuru is/was less open than Evgenia.

Actually the lutz was still inside, but that's to be expected.

Somebody mentioned here that only Tracy would accompany Zhenya to nationals because Orser would be busy. Could she have another skater in her booth as well acting as stand-in coach? Like Jason Brown? He could go "I am her coach of cool" or something. :)

Her instagram is manages by her agents. She says that she.needs time to.learn how to cope with all the hatred, she is trying to.do that, step by step.

Since Yuzu going to JapaneseNats is a seriously big doubt, maybe Orser will go with her and Tracy
