Evgenia Medvedeva

I read what happened before I watched the program and I skipped through the mistakes because it would've been too sad. The program is really, really lovely and it's unfortunate it didn't work out.

Of course I'm upset, but I was ready to accept whatever happened, and I knew it was equally likely for her to do either really well or not well at all. Both Brian and Zhenya seemed to accept the results as well. On one hand it's strange because obviously they've been training for her to go clean but on the other hand I think it's good that they weren't hysterical over it.

I think there's still a very small chance she'd get sent to Euros if she can do well tomorrow, but certainly not Worlds. I'm sad and not ready for her season to end so early but she needs more time to embrace all of the changes so maybe it will be a blessing in disguise.

The support from the crowd was really amazing. Both Brian and Zhenya seemed to be amazed by it. It was very touching and I hope she knows that so many of us are rooting for her, understanding her, and just patiently waiting for her.

But what if Tuktik wouldn´t recover so quickly after pneumonia. You thinkf they will send then Zhenya to Euros? And if Zhenya will do well there, who would be chosen then to worlds? I don´t think Stasya would be a safer option then Zhenya and Russia will need to score well to get three spots for the next year.

One question... do you guys think it would be good for Zhenya to be sent to Euros or Worlds? In a mental state like this? She isn‘t ready mentally, whatever happened to her confidence won‘t change so fast. Better let her go to Universiade or another minor B competition and give her the chance to get some competition experience that isn‘t as big as Euros or Worlds....

God, I'm heartbroken for her. I was glad to see how much the audience supported her, at least.

No, her chances are gone. But I'm hoping for the Universiada.

I think if Eliza is still sick they still won't send Evgenia :/. They probably will send Sofia and Stanislava. Sofia has been consistent the whole season long and the judges love Stasia.
I hope Evgenia has a chance to go to the Winter Uni event. She would have time to train for another 3 months.

I dont think brian or zhenya know how much support she has . After all the haters were pretty loud before. And tis Brian's first time at Russian nationals so I think he just wasn't expecting how much and how mindblowing the support for zhenya would be. And I think she had the longest and loudest cheer of all the skaters. I love how she seems able to stay more and more relaxed in the k&c. She is maturing so much even in such a short time you can see it. I dont think that a year ago she could have ever been so calm about her skate. I am so proud of her. I just wish we all could beam us to her right at this moment and give her a monumental group hug and tell her how much we support and love her

I think it's POSSIBLE (but not entirely likely) that she will be considered for Euros if Liza can't compete. The fed seems to like Zhenya so I think she'll be considered for spots regardless, but unfortunately it's difficult to justify sending her to either. Euros is more possible because Liza is a question mark and there are no spots on the line + Zhenya has high scoring potential. Still, I think it's more unlikely than it is likely, but we'll see. She needs a good skate tomorrow.

Yeah the one good thing is despite all the internet trolls it is clear that Russia still loves her and has her back (judges too according to her pcs). I had to turn the stream off after that first combo. It was too painful to watch. I don't know if she is in the right place mentally, to compete right now. Maybe she really needs to take time to work on that cause we've seen her lands everything in practice again and again yet in competition she loses all confidence. I truly wish she can come back.

When I saw her before the SP started... I knew it wasn‘t going well. She looked nervous. And Brian looked nervous too before the skate. I don‘t know what could help her at this point. Maybe it‘s just time she needs... well, I love her so I‘ll give it to her and continue to support her.

The reality is Zhenya is not good enough in this season, comparing with other Russian ladies. As a fan of her, we have to accept it... The only thing we can do is keep supporting her, not deny the result... :(:(:(

At this point I really don't know....at least it's good that she wasn't as sad as after France's sp

No i think that mabye a season of the team for euros and world's would do her good. At this stage I would say let her settle down in her new style. Let her breath . Let her go to a few smaller b comps . And than let her have her big comeback next season. We all heard Brian it takes almost 2 years to get used to his training style and all those changes she is going through. I thought from the beginning that I would mabye do her more good to take a season off . It would have given her time to heal without looking out on important training. Cause most girls had the off season to train , she did not. Which already gave the others an advantage of having trained more and already knowing there programms better. She has such a huge pressure on her. .

What happened with Jenya?? Psychological problems in compete's stress? In practice she really perfect!:hslap:

This is the unanswerable question. forget her performance and skating her mental toughness was unparalleled for 2 or 3 years now it's not. So sorry for any pain if Zhenya is going through but it's really good she got great support from the home crowd. Maybe the nerves will be less for the long program and she will ace that. She needs to.

Nope. TSL said it correctly, she needs to disappear for a season behind closed doors and work on reconstruction.

TSL also had the opinion right after IDF that Med should've skipped Nationals, and it seems like they were correct.

For a first post, I'll tell you this (as a reminder):

Forget about a 100-metre sprint,
forget about a mile long dash.

THIS IS A 4-YEAR MARATHON.

Each victory from now on, how small it could be, must be savored at it's fullest. Each result, even how bad it is, must be dissected in order to find a gem inside.

For the rest, in calm or rough seas ahead, the main word must be: STAY UNITED!

On a personal note: I have a plan. For us, mainly for Canadians and American supporters, but everyone is welcome. I'll keep you posted shortly...

#KeepItUp

Very uplifting first post. And all Zhenya fans we must stay United.

Oh dang, I can't watch the performance yet but I saw a few bits and the score of course and my heart hurts. :sad21:

At this point I think it would be better for her not to be sent to Euros and especially Worlds but I feel like she needs competitions to manifest the new techniques. Are there any smaller ones she could participate in?

Still, she is so fearless. I mean, she knew already in May how much criticism she would face, how harsh it would be. She knew how tough this season would be with all the competition in Russia and with all of her changes and injuries. I don't think Federation would deny her a gap season, considering her status and popularity. And yet she goes and faces every challenge...

Just stop pushing down the pressure on her... I know there are so many peopler want to see her performance in Euros and Worlds, including me, I used to plan to go to Japan on March in next year to see Zhenya in Worlds, next season maybe...:( :( :(
