Am I the only one who really disliked that untypical gesture to the crowd? It is so unlike EM and looks somehow cheap for her. It works for Liza, but EM is a performer, an artist who is always in character, so interacting with the audience somehow suddenly takes her out of the character she is portraying. And it doesn't fit tango at all. Besides, asking them to clap is really cringeworthy. The audience should clap when the music, the performance or the atmosphere provoke it; not when you ask them to. Anyway, everything else was great and I hope she won't repeat it ever again. It was probably Brian's idea anyway, because she didn't seem very comfortable doing it. At least she kept the gesture small![]()
It was completely appropriate, especially considering that for the first time this season she was skating for the joy of it and for the audience. She was not skating to win or to prove something. She was performing for an audience. I was more than happy to see her pull the crowd into the performance further, she was performing for them after all.

He was doing choreo with her and closed his arms and she opened them instead and interacted with the audience. He saw that and smiled slightly.
No idea what she’s saying as it‘s in Russian, though.
