Evgenia Medvedeva

I truly only hope they will change the Universiade assignment, everything else I don‘t care about. Oh, and I still stand by my statement: It would do no good for Zhenya to be at Worlds this year...

Agree with you about Universiade and Worlds, but now I don't expect even that.

Yeah, I also don‘t but oh well... we can hope at least. Hope dies last and all that!

 Oh no, we won't go down without a fight. But ,come on. I like Stanislava, she was really good a deservedly going to Europeans and very highly possible to Worlds (I think RusFed will be.choosing between her and Sofia). But she is also not very consistent, this season including. Hasn't Zhenya done enough to be given a chance.to perform again, and at home. I bet those tickets would be sold out in a minute.Ahhh, sorry, just me rambling, again...

Well, I will rant with you! I get the Euros and Worlds decisions but I am salty about Universiade and I will always be if they don‘t change that. Why send Stasya who isn’t very consistent to all three competitions this year?? That will be stressful for her too and she has to concentrate on Worlds!

And also: in 2017 Elena Radionova got the gold with 196 points. This season might be different as Liza Tuktamysheva and Mai Mihara are going to be there and both are 200+ skaters but still! Zhenya‘s lowest score was 192, that would literally still get her the bronze! And if she does better, she can very well compete with them for the higher medals! And she sells tickets as well.

Nah, I‘m angry about that and no one will change my mind until they change that stupid assignment.

I agree that going to Universiade would probably be better than going to Worlds, but I'm just holding out hope we'll get to see Zhenya again this season with her new programs and dresses...it would be too cruel to never see them again! :drama:

I really enjoyed watching World Team Trophy last year, so I hope she'll be able to go to that. I imagine it would be nice for her to compete with her Russian teammates too, it was so heartwearming to see her smile and interact with them like at the gala :) it also seems to be a great atmosphere at WTT (and it's only a bonus that they are so generous with the scoring  never a bad thing to have a SB at the end of the season)

With Universaide 2 weeks before Worlds, they should be sending different girls. Japan team for Universaide is different from worlds. And the 4th place girl from Japan got 4CC over the third place.

I get why Liza is going and that makes complete sense. Maybe they thought well if Stasya does so so at Euros she can get another chance at Universidade? They can't be sending her just because she was Russia's top Senior lady. If Alina had been top senior lady they would not have sent her their because she has no need to prove herself there.

Don't forget Zhenya has her grandmother who always backs her up. In the free skate, the camera showed her grandmother.

I thought that might be her! I wasn't sure though, she looked so relieved and happy for Zhenya. Great to know the two of them (and Zhenya's mother if she's there) will get to spend the New Year together.

Speaking of, I didn't know Mama Med was a skater too, is there any video of her skating?

I'm a bit late but I also want to say that I really admire the patience some of you have in the Russian Ladies thread. I'm unable to get involved in any discussion there.

Tchaikovskaia also angers me, of course she's entitled to her own opinion (though I feel like she needs a reality check) but the fact she seems to have a big say in the distribution of assignments worries me a little. Guess we gotta wait until Zhenya earns them through her next seasons results but I'm also salty about her not getting the Universiade spot. I'd be fine with Sotskova going instead but I don't understand Konstantinova. Anyway, I hope the rumours about her being considered for Worlds are not true, I don't think that would be good for her this season. Though I'd happily be proven wrong. :D

She was an ice dancer and she got injured at 14. Zhenya 's grandmother was the one who always travelled with her to competitions, you can see her in some Rostelcomm footage and Olympics. Zhenya 's mom does not sit in the audience, she gets too nervous.

Yes, it is! :)

And what are the chances of getting assigned to World Team Trophy? She has done this one in previous seasons. Sorry if it was discussed. I am confused with all of these other competitions that I had never heard of before!

I think it is by invitation.

I’m not 100% sure, but I think it’s by world standing. Right now, Alina and Zhenya are #1 and #2 in world standing, Stasya and Liza are #14 and #15, and Sofia is #30. So if invitations were issued today, theoretically, Alina and Zhenya would be the on the team. I don’t know if the Fed has any leeway to change this (ie, if they could decide not to send Zhenya). However, world standings will change somewhat by the time the team is announced (usually right after Worlds). I haven’t crunched the numbers, so I don’t know if, for example, Stasya won Euros and Liza won Worlds, one of them could pass Zhenya in world standing.

Marina Zoueva is still active, but coaches only ice dancers. And since Meryl Davis and Charlie White retired, and Tessa and Scott (Virtue/Moir) left her, went 2 years off the circuit and came back in spectacular fashion by moving at "The Gadbois" (in Montréal) with Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon (who still looks like close to a war zone due to the Turcot Interchange still being completely reconstructed!), with the glorious conclusion everyone here knows, I seriously doubt Mrs. Zoueva could do something...

"Local Flavor Note": Just by thinking at her "Beautiful Mess" Exhibition, I'm more eager seeing Samuel Chouinard choregraphing a program for Zhenya long before this happens!!!

I would love for Marina to choreo something to Evgenia. I could see Marina being very inspired by Evgenia. I’ve loved so many of Marina’s programs (though you could always tell when she was more inspired by a certain piece). It’s wild to think that in each of the last four Olympics she has produced at least one team on the podium.

Btw the improvement in Evgenia’s skating skills is drastic. The way she’s carrying herself on ice and the fluidity of her movements have all improved. Even her crossovers are a little different but I love it
