Evgenia Medvedeva

If you're reading this, happy holidays Zhenya!

And happy holidays to all you die-hard Zhenya fans out there! :agree:

To be honest, when I think about why Zhenya left Eteri, I think it's because of something personal instead of the rigorous training process. Zhenya and Eteri are truly similar since they spent so much time together, and in the grand scheme of things I think both of them would get upset over something that to another person might not make sense. So, I think that it was because of something that we might not even think of instead of just Zhenya being tired of the training process. She obviously was deeply hurt by something, but we can only speculate what that was.

yes, she was hurt by something (see interview after France GP) but I think this was not the only reason.

-In one of her interwiews after the coaching change she said “I just thought if I will not do any changing, if I will leave everything how it was, I just wouldn’t compete at all,” Medvedeva said. “I just understood that I really wanted to improve myself. I want to start a new life.”
-In another interview, she mentioned that she wants more muscle.
-I think she realized also if she would stay with the old coaching team, there would be no jump technique change. The best example is her axel or her toe-pick improvement under Orser

So, she thought Orser was the best option.
"At the Olympic Games in Beijing, I will be 22. Not only this of course. Orser in general have many athletes, who in the figure skating are usually called aged and who passed more than one Olympics. Yuna Kim is just one of them."

True and true.

Frankly, there was ZERO need, earlier this fall, for the gossips and journalists (whose job is to explain to their audience what they don't understand themselves!) to hammer questions about why she "didn't brought flowers to Mrs. Tutberidze as a goodbye gift, à la Alina". In my opinion, maybe a short text message at due time saying: "Thanks for those wonderful years, Eteri, but now I want to go elsewhere in order to have a longer, more fruitful career. Best Wishes, Zhenya.", would be just fine... But why it didn't happeded? The only sensible, rational guess is given the outcome following Pyeongchang, is that their relationship went somehow down south, if not reaching abysmal depths quick enough.

No need to bark about and expecting answers right now, just to understand and respect this...

Itok believe that there was something else that happened between them, cause I remember zhenya saying in one of her latest interviews that there are things that she will not talk about

Ah I had just come to comment about the radio interview myself. I found that oddly phrased though I do understand her hesitation about the word feminist since (without getting too off topic) it has become incredibly 'mainstream' and it has been misused to the point where it became a marketing ploy for companies and it has even been used to pit women against each other. I have noticed the last few years that women don't tend to use the word feminist as much (myself included) but lean more towards saying things like "women's rights" and "women's rights activists". So I feel like Zhenya might have grown up in a world where the word lost its value but if she was asked if she supporter of women's rights I think she would more than happy to say yes.

Of course I might just be getting the situation all wrong and you should ignore me.

:otopic: I'm around her age, and that's not true at all for me. Most women in my experience who care about that stuff would use feminist. I've almost never seen anyone use women's rights activist. Actually, in my experience people find it important to use the word 'feminist' rather than just equality, for a variety of reasons. But I have no idea about Russia.

I an so excited for this new video from Zhenya! I have been thinking I wish skaters had more videos of routines. I know they are so busy with actual compeitions, but maybe after the next Olympics Zhenya can have her own channel. With her beginning to choreograph, and expressive face it would be amazing.

That looks so nice, it looks so dream like. I hope we get to see the full thing.

Also super glad she's bundle up and not like in a skating outfit because I'm sure Moscow is freaking freezing lol.

In Moscow in this day was about -7 degrees Celsius.
I have in Siberia -31.:смех:
