No way. Please let's be realistic. Alina is their Olympic Champion. She's had troubles lately but they won't dump her now. Zhenya's had problems too after all. I think they might have to include Alina in this Russian Cup thing. But she still won silver at GPF. I think that Sofia's spot is secured now. Which is good because she deserves it. Now it'll be crazy what will happen next.

I don't think so either. Like I said, I would very much love to see Zhenya at Worlds. Especially because she seems to be on an upward trajectory after RusNats FS. At this point I have actually no idea what will happen. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. It seems crazy to even think that they'd exclude Alina from the Worlds team. But then again, rusfed has done crazier things. I don't want to make any assumptions. I just hope Zhenya is well rested and has two great skates at the Russian Cup Final.

I will get prepared. Or at least I'm trying to to do it. Can we say that this event will be even more interesting than Russian Nationals? Worlds spots are on the line... It will be interesting to see the full line up. If the juniors participate too, it would be truly insane. But I have a feeling that they will make a separate event for the Worlds contenders. Otherwise it would be straight up a repeat of Russian Nationals.

They will never be quiet. Who cares, though. I'm glad she's happy with Brian and doing her best. She is in a great environment with many of her friends that all support her. She will get back her confidence and it will be great to watch. We'll just have to follow her journey and trust in her and her team. If we know one thing, then, that she's in good hands.

I wouldn’t say Alina is a lock after her free program’s at Russian Nationals and Europeans. It doesn’t matter to me if Zhenya doesn’t go to Workds this season. I’d just like to see her put 2 clean programs together and then start to focus on 2019-2020. This current season is for rebuilding.

That's the most important thing for me too. To see her confident and happy in her programs at the Russian Cup Final despite the pressure. I think she's made a great step forward at Russian Nationals. That's the most important thing. Whatever rusfed decides... we don't know and there's no way to possibly know because rusfed is rusfed. They are just a bit on the crazy side That's why Worlds selection is not the main point for me. It's seeing Zhenya and hopefully her having great skates and smiling.

I don't believe that it would be a true skate off. RusFed will probably just send whoever they want, taking the full season into consideration, even if Zhenya has an amazing skate and wins. If this is the case, I'd rather her just do a challenger and prepare for next season It'd be really sad to see her do well at what she believes is a "skate off" then see her get left off. It'd also be sad if she didn't do well after she ended nationals in a great mindset. It just seems like a high risk, unlikely award situation. But we shall wait for more information, I suppose.

At least they could send her to Universiade. Being in two competitions (Cup of Russia and Universiade) will give her enough competitive experience. The good thing about Universiade is that is about the same time as Jr worlds. So she would have the same time to practice for next season as the 3A.

No, I'm fine with it. I wish that's how it was always transliterated honestly, because then English speakers would actually pronounce her first name more or less correctly. I had absolutely no idea that there was a ye sound at the beginning of her name for ages. I get that there are official conventions and everything, but when there's a way to write it's close to phonetic I think that makes things much easier.

ETA: I do write it "Evgenia" because that's how she spells it, which I respect. But I'm not bugged by the NBC thing. It's only going to help some people actually say her name more correctly.

There are no Challenger events left this season. Golden Spin was the last one in December. There are Senior B events, but they don't count for SB (only for tech minimums, and some WS points). The only events in figure skating that count for SB are: GP, JGP, CS, Euros, 4CCs, Olympics, Worlds and WTT.
