Evgenia Medvedeva

I think people get so invested in their favourites that they lose sight of common decency and moral values.

Now it's Evgenia did a triple jump while Yuzu and Alina are posing for a picture in the Olympics Gala - That's so petty! :drama:

The manner in which people scrutinize Zhenya is so strange. I personally think Zhenya handled the Olympic outcome with so much grace and maturity. It’s too bad that some figure skating fans are clouded by bias and hatred

Guys, please, zhenya doesn’t care about the haters and her fan base is huge. Ignore the haters. They hate her for the same reason why everyone hates the Yankees, the New England patriots, etc....It’s because she is the best at what she does and revolutionized the sport, expanding its fan base. She has an international, growing following. Her earlier missteps this season was her learning new things and if she finished as she did with missteps imagine where she will finish now that she has learned and grown? She leaps over the field once again. Focus the forum on zhenya and her art. Don’t worry about the jealous fans of others. They are just jealous, bitter sore losers. Just smirk at them gnashing their teeth and stomping their feet as the Zhenya Phoenix reignites. :)

Misha is at TCC working with another skater. Zhenya just got back today so I think they will work together tomorrow.

Sorry to doublepost, but there's an update on the Worlds spot and the update is that we're likely not getting a clear update.

https://www.sport-express.ru/figure...-vide-a-dalshe-vozmozhno-chto-ugodno-1516415/

The press secretary of the RusFed says, and I quote: "The roster [for Worlds] can be handed in in an extended form and after that anything's possible. Someone could get an injury, for example. It won't be a definitive list of three people for each category."

So... um, yeah. I don't like this, but it looks like they're just going to submit all four current Ladies' candidates for Worlds and make their final chice who knows when.

Prolonging the decision just gives people more time to speculate and be hateful. To all of them, but especially Zhenya.

Just make the decision and deal with the consequences. There's no reason to give anyone false hope. Tell the first alternate to continue training if you're worried.

Why say this, athletes can always get injured... That's why you have alternates...:scratch2:

Yeah, it's just strange to emphasize it this much. The interview is a bit longer than the part I quoted, but the main takeaway is that the press secretary just reiterates a few times that a definitive roster might not get released today.

It sounds to me like they know for a fact that one of the main contenders (Alina or Sophia) is injured and want to wait and see if she recovers on time or has to be replaced, but even if that's the case internally, I don't like that they're avoiding making a public commitment to a decision. Everyone knows a skater can withdraw due to injury and then an alternate will take their place, just release the roster and don't beat around the bush.

Maybe they still haven't decided who is the first alternate ??

Not my thought, but they are probably going to make all the girls draw straws, whoever draws the short one will stay at home.

No matter what this girl does/or doesn't do, people will hate. It's disgusting. Why is Evgenia the most hated Russian female skater? It was like this from day 1 since she stepped on the senior podium. I could understand the drama with Adelina at Sochi, but this .. I don't.
She is also greatly beloved in Russia and deserves to be.

I think a lot of the dissord towards Evgenia picked up steam last May when she left her great coach and training in Russia to go to another great coach and training in Canada. The Russian media went crazy with a story and that's when some of the bad feelings toward evgenia picked up. Heck in the late 1980s and early 1990s Russia had several top young hockey players defect from Russia to go play in North America in the National Hockey League. Those players today are beloved in Russia and what Zhenya did was not even one tenth of that. And Zhenya still trains in Russia when she can it's just at CSKA instead of Sambo-70. Again to me Evgenia is greatly loved in Russia and has lots of support. She has earned all of that support and love. That is undeniable.

I'm confused. Sports.ru Just announced that Rusfed maintained the team: Sofia, Stasya and Alina.
I was quite sure they would leave Konstantinova and the discussion would be between Zhenya and Liza.
Maybe it's because the deadline ends today and they have to send the names, even though they can alter it later, I don't know

Yeah, they said that they didn't have enough time to discuss RCF results and they need to get their choices in. But they will alter later if they need to...

Man, they left both Liza and Zhenya off Universiade and now they potentially won't get Worlds either? Zhenya is 2nd alternate
