Evgenia Medvedeva

In terms of timing of this, Zhenya withdrew from Worlds quite late last season. I have a feeling we will be clueless for a while.

No one knows what the day to day training in TCC is really like but I’m sure Evgenia will work closely with Ghislan in the near future if she hasn’t already for a bit, I think the focus was on the 2A since that’s Brian’s specialty and the spins because of her injury. If you think about how her stroking skills have also improved so much, she’s actually done a lot.

I think it's absolutely fair game that the fed wanted to see Liza compete at least once before Worlds, since she had to recover from a serious illness and had to miss Nats and Euros, especially when her main thing is a 3A. It has to be there for her to be competitive. But I understand why she's feeling sick of this by now. And I also feel very bad for her... just name her on the team, make Zhenya the first alternate and be done with it. It's a bad situation, but that seems to be the most reasonable solution right now.

I would agree with you before RCF but I have seen her training session. She looks strong and in good form.

Either way, I can see both outcomes positive.

If I were her, I would stay out of this Worlds. Too much downside and very little upside. Her technique hasn't stabilized enough, she's going to get so much vitriol if she takes the spot from Tukt, and she will be under immense pressure to perform. If she doesn't perform well, the negativity from Russia will be unbearable and she will have lost goodwill with the Fed.

This Worlds is a clusterfck for Russian ladies. It's better if she stays away and let the other 3 deal with the pressure and drama.

Vitriol should not be an argument for worlds selection.

Anyway, it´s likely Tuktamysheva will get the spot.
 
I'm doing a Zhenya Tribute during my ballet class tonight by wearing her signature bun hairstyle. I actually really like it! Way easier than I thought it would be :laugh:

It is if Med is thinking long term. Vitriol isn't good for the pressure on her and she should save goodwill with the Fed bc she might need it more later in other events.

Look at the blow back Wagner got for going to the Olympics over Nagasu in 2014. That definitely came back to haunt her for the 2018 team selection.

Yes but she is Evgenia Medvedeva, pressure will always be there. I don´t think the pressure (already very high) will increase if some people write not nice things about her because she has to deal with it since the Olympics.

About the fed...Idk. A future event result should not depend on the result of Worlds. Wagner was not good enough for the 2018 USA team, I do not think it has to do something with 2014.
 
Well, it seems like all the meetings are yet to happen. i think we can count on at least TAT, Buyanova, and possibly Moskvina to put in a good word for her. I mean everyone saw how good she is in practice and was way better in competition then before. It breaks my heart how bad she wants Worlds

I hope Orser calls one of his russian colleagues and figures out what is going on

At one interview, Evgenia mentioned Ghislain's name. So she has worked with Ghislain, perhaps in the setting where all the coaches are at the rink.
Jason Brown mentioned there's group training where all the coaches are there. The coaches will observe & correct mistakes of the skaters. Jason was explaining he doesnt get one on one session with Brian Orser, just a few min in group setting.

From what she has described, Evgenia gets one on one with Brian & Tracy only. Ghislain should be in some form of group setting

I think she wants it but is realistic too. She said she would be happy if Liza got the spot and empathized with her getting sick in the middle of the season. That said, I know it will be really hard for her if she doesn't get to go and most of her team and training mates are in Japan. :(

As for the meeting, I guess it was a lot of people to get together and may have been difficult to do on a weekend. Yes there is skype, etc. but do these people know how to use it? They are an older generation. :laugh: I think we will get an announcement by the end of this week latest.

Agree. She was given soo many opportunities already and she always messes up. I wouldn't consider her at all. This should be between Zhenya and Liza
