Why doesn’t she bet on 3F3Lo first, until her Lutz edge is improved? I don’t know, maybe she’s already doing this... isn’t it worse to add a not clean lutz in a combo like this? She’ll end up losing points if her edge is not outside.

The landing of her 3F this season has not been very good in competition.

Wow! 3Lz+3Lo under show light??? She really wants to try new things and get those combos consistent. There‘s always a first to everything and that‘s the first time she tried this combo outside of training. She‘ll land it if she tries a few more times. :)

Also, I know this doesn‘t really belong here but Polina Tsurskaya ended her career. I wish her all the best for her future. She was a tremendous talent but it seems she’s found something else she wants to do. Here is something nice she said about Zhenya in her latest interview:

Q: Will you watch competitions?
A: All last year I watched only the performances of those athletes whom I really support. There are many. Masha Sotskova, Zhenya Medvedeva, Anechka Shcherbakova, Alena Kostornaya - mostly those with whom I once communicated and was friends.

So sad Polina retired at 17. Not everyone can be Zhenya or Alina or Katarina or Michelle or Tara or Irina or Maria. But I say even being on the second or third Russian team is worthwhile especially if you can skate and Polina can skate. Maybe Zhenya will talk her out of retirement. If Polina had bad knees or a bad back that would be one thing but to just retire off the cuff is disappointing. I of course hope she is happy doing the education thing. But still it's a sad day for Russian figure skating even with all the mind-boggling depth they have on the ladies side. No one should be retiring at 17. It just doesn't seem right. Does it?

Injuries are brutal.

Offtopic but I have to say something
Nobody should retire at 17 due to injuries, ED or financial difficulties. Polina retired because she wanted to. Apparently she has been skating for some time only to satisfy her parents. If figure skating isn’t what she wants to do in life I think we all should respect her decision no matter how much we will miss her

Yes if Polina really didn't love figure skating and it was because of her parents then that's a different story. Not everyone can love FS and everything that goes with it the way Zhenya does. It's a great sport but brutal in so many ways.
