Evgenia Medvedeva

Aww can’t get on the site it must still be crashed! Hope it’s up and running again soon!! Can’t wait to see it [emoji178]

According to some Zhenya´s fans, apparently she isn´t more Pantene's ambassador.

That would be a mistake on pantene's part. She did a glorious ad once with her hair down. I thought she would be with Pantene for years.

On a side note does anyone know how much of a cut Eteri got with Zhenya? Because it's been reported that she gets 40% of what Alina produces revenue wise. OMG. If I was an athlete in a free-market country that would drive me crazy. Then on top of paying the coach a royal some of money like 40% you have to pay your own agent and people who work for you. It is a shame these Russian skaters don't keep that much money. But I guess that's the financial World in Russia for athletes. If Evgenia was American she'll be making millions of dollars a year.

She gets 40% of all her skaters earn, not just AZ. That includes prizes money, shows, commercials, etc.

I read a note from Liza in which she said that in Russia skaters earnings are this: after the tax deduction, a part goes to the Federation and 30% goes to the coaches. Therefore, the skater at best get 50% or less.

But I also read that only in Sambo 70 the percentage is different: 40% goes to the coaches. So what is left for the skater is even less ... Well now we know who specific coach earns more money at the expense of her students. In addition to the salary paid by the Federation to the coach.

At least ET from Zhenya no longer gets 40% and Orser doesn't charge a percentage for her earnings.

Imagine how much Zhenya would earn if she were Japanese.

I’m so relieved that Plushenko didn’t mention Evgenia in his very wordy response. As usual it is adults doing the most when skaters know that drama benefits no one.

Alina mentioned that she trained from 6am to 9pm. I can only imagine the struggle for Evgenia to adapt to trying to train quality over quantity, knowing what 3A are capable of. I said this about Marin but I think it definitely applies to Evgenia too: When you face setbacks it is always little by little that you fight your way back. Doesn’t always mean it’s back to what you were, just back to a place where you’re content. No matter what, Zhenya chose to fight for her career, for her passion.

Last year was rough in many ways, but with all of the drama I think, honestly, that last year was a gift. Because she is still skating through the rough times, because she is healthier and happier.

AMEN!
I hope they stop questioning everything that is related to her.
Zhenya has been put into such a horrible situation with all the gossip and bad propaganda she received after the Olympics. Its just godamn awful.
So sick and tired of all this negativity. I just want to watch some talented athletes do their thing, is that too much to ask? :(

Thank you for that information. No wonder Eteri doesn't want any of her breadwinners to leave. ;) Yes Zhenya would be raking in the yen if she was Japanese.

I believe the Pantene money was just during the Olympic season, like how Gracie Gold briefly had a CoverGirl contract. Athletes don’t often get long term beauty contracts, but clothing contracts are way more long term

I think Evgenia’s agent should be angling for a watch endorsement like Citizen, Seiko, Tag Hauer...luxury brands that still appeal to a younger demographic. If Chloe Moretz can appear in SK-II commercials, so can Zhenya. Is there a popular Russian brand of skincare? Or tech like beats by dre or Bose. If she is consistent and goes to WTT or something I think she will continue to get good offers.

Btw, apparently the norm is for Russian coaches to get 30% but E**** apparently upped it to 40% after the Olympics. Evgenia still skates for Sambo but I don’t think her former coach(es) still get a cut of her Nike money. Anything she earns now, only a percentage goes back to the Fed I believe.

It should be noted that it’s not customary outside of Russia for coaches to receive a percentage of their student’s earnings. China follows the Soviet sports system so the government gets around 65%, if you stay within the sports system (ex. Li Na only had to give about 15 or 20% back when she started managing her own career). I believe Chinese coaches get winning bonuses from the govt, not the skaters. Frank Carroll had contracts with his students but he didn’t receive nearly as much.

The actual take home pay for skaters is really meager. Between the Russian Federation's percentage and then the coaches cut, its probably less than half. Also its customary to share a percentage with instructors and trainers. Thank goodness Orser doesn't take any of the earnings from shows/advertisements.

I think the Russian system of paying for lessons has its pros and cons. When you’re successful skater it must hurt financially when half of your skating related earnings go to your coach, manager and who knows who else. But when you’re young and upcoming star it’s easier to give 30% than paying for lessons per hour.

Evgenia wrote on her insta that more will come to the shop after New Year and I can’t wait. I’d seriously reconsidering buying passport cover as I’m looking for one

I never really paid close attention to this financial stuff for the skaters and I've been a figure skating fan for a long time. But I am astonished at how much eteri gets. Hopefully evgenia is done paying her whatever percentages. After these Russian skaters get done paying their coach manager and then taxes to the government they are left with too much. But that's their system and it works for some.

I'm definitely buying pens for home and office and a t shirt. What is everybody else buying?

For sure a phone case. I’m not into t-shirts, but I love the picture of Evgenia, so hoodie would be nice but it’s a bit pricy after being done with all the Christmas shopping [emoji85]

Edit: I ended up with a phone case and a hoodie after all [emoji7]

I really want a phone case but one isn't available for my type of phone. Might get a new phone in a few months so hopefully I can come back to this. I love the design!

Thinking about getting a pen and a water bottle for now?

Has anyone read the interview of the Director of Sambo 70? It's in Russian. That's why I don't know if the Google translation is correct and I understood correctly. I leave the link in case you are interested: https://tnv.ru/articles/renat-laysh...u-drugikh-ne-poluchaetsya-vot-i-nervy-sdayut/

He has been interviewed in the light of recent events but he has also mentioned Evgenia. He said that while she skated marvelously and cleanly in Moscow she still lost against Trusova who fell twice.

Obviously, this man elevates ET to the altars, but what has caught my attention is that he says that it's no longer possible to withstand the high training loads of these athletes with such high technical content without the use of drugs (obviously allowed ). With what going on in Russia about that and this man speaks openly about it!

It's lucky that Zhenya isn't there anymore.

I played it safe and only ordered a water bottle. I assume they’re shipping everything from Russia so in case my parcel gets stuck at the customs office that would be some very expensive fun for me. If all goes well I'll order more for sure. Also, the shirt I would’ve picked seems to be sold out already? (The ones with her Olympic dress on.) Glad the sales seem to be going well!
