Evgenia Medvedeva

Thank you! I am so sick of reading that her career is done etc... she is such an amazing skater! I am sad not to see the free skate because it was one of my favourite programs

Welcome to her fan fest. Post often. I'm hoping Evgenia will bring back her Geisha program for the Olympic season, it's a masterpiece.

Ashley Wagner also spoke up that it is not normal to take a second pair of boots to a competition for Elite skaters and that even buying and wearing completely new boots during a competition can seriously harm skaters.

No matter what Ashley says what happened to Evgenia should be a lesson to all figure skatets. They should all carry on their number one pair of skates with them on the plane and check in a second pair with their luggage. it's pretty simple and I don't want to hear that airplanes won't let you carry skates on board. Carrying a second pair of figure skates is a must for major competitions.

Having two pairs of boots is not that easy. Having to break in two pairs of boots takes away from your serious training time and sets you back and makes your jumps less consistent for several days which is fatal if you have competitions coming up.
Ashley: " Also breaking in new boots means you most likely won’t be able to physically do high level jumps for a few days. You can injure yourself because the leather is too stiff, and it’s hard to move organically the way you know how to for the jump!"
Now imagine that with two pairs of boots. Several skaters like Ashley, Polina, Jackie Wong etc. this week already have adressed that having two pairs of boots is not that easy as skating fans make it out to be.
Even if you have equall broken in pairs you can still have issues when switching them, as even changing the blades from one boot to another can mess up your jumps and skating

Oof how I wish I could turn back time and somehow tell Zhenya not to do the jump in practice that took her boot out. Everything seemed so hopeful and normal three days ago 😭

Why is she not on the spare list?

She may not want to be. Her stating she will see us at test skates, might mean she wants this season over. She needs to break in New skates, so Europeans is really too close. Hopefully she does a senior B. I think she will really like it.

It wasn't a jump. Zhenya said yesterday that she fell off the jump because her boot broke. She didn't jump and broke her boot. The boot broke and that's why she fell ... which is even worse.

Didn't compete at RusNats fully. Totally ignoring the fact that INTERNATIONALLY her score is the fourth highest of the Russians, just after the 3A. They don't need her anymore.

WD at Nationals can not be the reason. Lisa was in the spare list last year despite WD at National.

This is so sad. She was so good this season. And it wasn't her fault that the boot broke. :(

Yes, but she also said "maybe a senior B", so she is willing to compete. I don´t believe it that she does not want to be included in the spare list..

They are of course correct it's not that easy but I bet Zhenya wishes she had a backup pair of skates with her.

I just hope the skates were safe for her to skate in the gala.
