Evgenia Medvedeva

Guys zhenya herself said her season is over (there may be some b competitions)but why exactly did you think she would be named alternative , she herself as well as alina declared there a competition season over.

I know, but now it's officially final. And she has not shown up on any Senior B's yet. I wish she was going to Bavarian Open.

Yeah but we knew it as soon as she herself said it, so I did not have to hope for something that I knew would not happen. So I really don't get why you all seemed to have had hope that she would be on the alternative team. Because for me it was very clear that she wouldn't be, mabye if the thing eith the boot would not have happened, than she would be either in the team or alternative. But it happened like it happenend, and her getting alternative spot over liza who in the end did compete with both sp and free programm would have really been unfair

To be fair we didn’t all know it was done done. I think some of us were hoping she would still go to the worlds.. i would have thought she would be maybe an alternate 1st or 2nd.. I mean she did win bronze last year... but I guess it makes my decision not to go to worlds easier since its only an hour away from me this year :)

B category challengers when you have publicly announced (and arranged with FFKKR) you’ve called your competitive season quits?

I doubt FFKKR will furnish the expenses.
Are there even any such events on Medvyedeva’s side of the Atlantic?

When wanting to travel overseas to compete in such a competition, even when a reasonable appearance fee can be arranged, she still must have a chance at some decent prize money to make it all worth her while and not loose her own money.

Those seminars in Mexico seem a better alternative, in addition to the shows in Russia and the Far East she’s already booked in.

It´s better to read the quali rules fabienne before you come up with words like "unfair". It´s clear why Zhenya is not on the alternate list, they changed the rules for this season where only Nationals counts. For next season, they will go back to the old rule (third place+alternate over the coaching council).

Lisa was the first alternate last seson, despite not competing at Nationals. I did not hear it from you that it was "unfair" against Zhenya who did compete at Nationals.

The money nonsense again.

LOL, you call it nonsense, I call it economic common sense.

If Yevgeniya were invited to a B event with all expenses covered and a nice appearance fee, she’ll probably not decline a chance to compete and show her best.

Anyway, end of March has her in the big FFKKR show in Moscow’s Megasport, and then she is off to commercial shows in Japan etc, right?

Evgenia and Brian both stated she may be at a senior B. I want her at a Senior B for 3 Reasons:

1. Because they help in the world rankings.
2. She would most likely get a gold medal.
3. I want to see her compete again. pretty please.

Which chocolate are you? And did you get Evgenia? :)

(I did - Anna Karenina)

Gold suits Zhenya very well, so I‘m all for it.

But Edwin isn‘t wrong in that she will have to consider whether it‘s worth it. Not because she‘s in financial trouble (like, what, she‘s one of the most well known faces of figure skating) but because the time to fly all the way to Europe for a small competition could be spent differently. I think it might be good for her to end her season on a great note, with clean programs and a gold and I of course want to see her again, but we‘ll have to wait. I have to say I‘m not too hopeful but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I have officially moved into the bronze medal position with 1,023 posts. :hap10:

Lunalovesskating is the silver medalist with 1,302 posts. :medal"

Fluture is the gold medalist with 1,523. :yay:

This isn't fair since only a few are not really for me [emoji14]

I can't vote for her! The vote buttons are missing for best costume and one of the other categories - only the information buttons are there

Did you register first, then you get a confirmation email, then you can do it. I couldn't do it on the first try.

Medveyedeva did a live stream and created a stir, when discussing "Spinning Out" series? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfTj2lzdJ7E and she addresses her audience in English, lecturing even :-)

They ask me:“ Do you really drink so much? ” Medvyedeva responded to allegations of alcohol

The Russian figure skater Yevgeaniya Medvyedeva, who currently lives and trains in Canada, conducted a live broadcast on Instagram for the first time in a long time. The 20-year-old athlete did this at about 03:30 Moscow time. The goal of Medvyedeva's live broadcast was to refute the allegations that she drinks alcohol in large quantities. Yevgeniya admitted that relevant questions fell upon her after the American series “Spinning Out” (“Clinging to Ice”), whose main character regularly drinks alcoholic beverages.

“A lot of people ask me about Spinning Out. They ask if it is true that skaters drink so much alcohol. I was directly asked: "Zhenya, you really drink so much?"

Apparently, people are juxtaposing. In the series, the heroine pursues a dream - to get into the Olympic Games. And I participated in the Olympic Games. But at the same time, the heroine came almost every evening to the bar and drank very, very much alcohol. It is not right! And this is not true! Skaters do not allow themselves this. And I do not think that any of the sports of high achievements allows himself to relax so much.

If you go to some competitions of a very high level, then you count every calorie and measure out every piece of food. To put in yourself something useful, to make it easier to ride, to improve your result. In principle, this is all that figure skaters and other athletes think about. It doesn’t even occur to us to do anything destructive. We work so hard every day that there is no way to drink alcohol like this every day.

I do not agree that the directors show such a reality in large projects, on the big screen. This upset me a little and offended me to some extent even. Moreover, people began to write and ask me if this is true. I don’t want people to think such things about skaters. And I understood that the questions are no longer in a good direction, not with a good intonation.

Please do not believe the Internet and everything that is shown on TV. The reality is basically completely different. We are those people who are hunched over every day, work a lot, love our work and will not ruin all the material we have accumulated with such actions. I wanted to intercede for the skaters. So here I am this person.

In general, this series left positive emotions. Somewhere in it there is truth, somewhere else - not. Nobody goes to the Olympics with one triple Toeloop, although beautiful. But it’s all the same great that figure skating is so popular they started making films, such huge projects, ” Medvyedeva said.

Good to hear she stands up for herself, other figure skaters and sports and athletes in general.

Her hair looked beautiful. I'm glad that she is speaking out that she doesn't drink and most elite skaters are very conscious about what they eat and drink.
