Zhenya deleted around 200 of her instagram posts yesterday. Seems like she deleted every private picture and only kept the ones which are related to her work I hope these bullies are happy. I remember the last time Zhenya went quiet on social media, it was not a good time.

There was a Japanese blog that analyzed the wallpapers on all of her photos as well as her furnitire and the outside of her surroundings to find out where she lives. A few Japanese Zhenya fans on Twitter posted that these types of blogs sometimes physically attack the people they stalk, there have been incidents before in Japan where stars were stalked and attacked according to them. So turning of the comments was not enough as the photos were still there.

Even if you turn off comments, which is against the spirit and intention of social media, any posting can still be copied and ridiculed or worse.

It is difficult to resist temptation to communicate to your fans this way, but a website run by agent, manager or trusted friend can also serve as your media outlet, right?

And allow you to display your sponsors’ logos, club details, friendly links to merchandise or whatever. You can watermark your photos and images to make them a little tamper proof.

Having to think and to edit before posting might keep you from reacting instinctively or instantaneously in the heat of the moment.

That’s just sick [emoji32] I feel sorry for Zhenya, why she has to go through things like that... I’m sad she’s not so active in social media, because I miss her, but I know it’s the right way, for her safety and well-being.

My guess is past trauma from being painted as the villain in the press. I would feel pretty self conscious about what I posted if it was me and I felt like it was happening again. That was a dark time for her and took a big toll on her in a variety of ways. She’s strong of mind but she’s only human.

Someone needs to explain to her that the press consistently generates fake controversy because there is never enough controversy to fill a 24/7 news cycle and controversy is what draws in viewers and clicks. Look at us, although 99.9% of skating fans know it’s idiotic, a bunch of us are still clicking the links just to hate read it. It’s a time honored business model and Zhenya’s rising fame makes her a target. It’s a very unfortunate side effect of major success. If she learns to not give a damn she’ll grow as an artist and an athlete.
