Poor zhenya, Alina fans will be going even more crazy especially since alina wrote a comment saying that apparently sambo 70 didnt even call her and neverasked about raising the flag. All the while laishev is talking about how he would have liked alina and zhenya to raise the flag together, but that alina is busy.

That Zhenya would take part in the Moscow stage has been known for long and was inevitable. Daniil also said at the 1st Stage that they are trying to prepare her for he 2nd stage as best as they can in her condition. She should be in top form at RusNats per Daniil's words.

Zhenya was just announced as confirmed for the competition on the 10th - 13th - I guess her back injury must be better!

Hope Zhenya can train in peace while Sambo's president is creating a whole circus this morning.
Kamila is still on the entry list. For the 1st stage and Test Skates they also did not list everyone in the announcement article, so no worries.

I‘m beginning to wonder whether Zhenya‘s doing her circus program in honour of RusFed.... Layshev‘s probably their biggest clown, though. The guy wants attention for his school and is stopping at nothing to get it. That‘s why he keeps pitting his two biggest stars against each other (while conveniently making it look like he “just wants them to work together“) so that their fans go nuts and attack the other side. It‘s intrigue and drama and reminds everyone once again that, yes, he and only he managed to get the two last Olympic medalists at his school. I wish Alina understood that (though I get that this must look like a very low blow to her bc it is lol) and only internally told him off. Per her instagram, she was busy feeding stray cats anyway - which, to me, sounds like a far better way to spend the day than as a pawn at an event for Mr. Chief of Sambo.
This is EXACTLY why I wanted Zhenya in Canada. She had her peace there, they could only touch her through the media. They sure did a mighty fine job at mentioning her every chance they got but it was still different. She was surrounded by the calm presence of Brian, Tracy and Jason. Now...? Well, my only hope is that Eteri helps her focus on training, ignoring everything else.

I wonder what her second competition‘s going to be. All the other ones are brutal, her biggest chance at a medal likely was at the first stage... Stupid back injury. But I am intrigued about her form now and the way her jumps look. It‘s going to be an interesting (drama filled, I fear..) few weeks..

I think she may not have to do a second stage. Morozov and Tarasova who also withdrew from their 1st stage said they will only do one Cup this season and RusFed's president said that they will have a solution for skaters who had to withdraw from a Cup due to injury, but not participating in any Cup was out of the question, so people are guessing injured skaters may only have to do one Cup. We'll see. Zhenya will likely take 3rd in the 2nd stage so even a 4th place at a second Cup would be enough to qualify, I think.

Daniil seems confident about Zhenya being at RusNats, he keeps mentioning it. Unless we get concerning information, I think she’ll be there regardless if she gets a 2nd Cup stage or not.
Also, Zhenya has always been involved with the politics of Sambo and Rusfed. After all, she did speak at the council to allow Russian athletes to compete in Pyeongchang. Seems like a silly thing for other fans to get mad at. Who even cares?

This flag raising thing really isn't a big deal, and I doubt it's affecting anyone's training. Let's be positive instead of gasping that she should be back in Canada every single opportunity there is.

Actually i just read on twitter that morozov/tarasova withdrew from the secon stage as well.so itwill be interesting to see what rusfed will do, if they do something to allow them to go to rusnats (a later cupevent? Or skating at the rostelecom gp? Or if they are simply allowed into rusnats) or if they are out of it.

I wouldn't worry about Zhenya (at least not about this thing), she passed through so much other stuff, this is really something small....
And seems that this time it is Layshev, who is getting Alina's fans backlash

. I think she is happy in Russia - way more stressful figuring out the pandemic and when flights will open, if she can leave, if she can come back, etc.. The last time Trusova/Zhenya went head to head, Zhenya was on top in the SP. Does anyone know if they both have the same jumps as last year planned for the SP?

Thanks, that‘s good to know. I guess it‘s actually better for her if she only has to compete once, with her back injury and all. This year only matters in terms of establishing yourself to RusFed and she can try to do that at RusNats anyway..

That made me laugh, thanks for that! Reminds me of her liking a tweet in 2018 along the lines of ”Zhenya walking away from the mess that is RusFed and co.“ Never change, Zhenya.
As for Sasha: if she has her 3A back, she‘ll likely go for it get an advantage on Valieva. If not, then her layout‘s the same as at Rostelecom last year, at least per test skates. Zhenya‘s layout‘s different, though. She used to have 3F+3T, 2A, 3Lox, now she does 3Lo+3T, 2A, 3Fx. The difference in BV is very small, so it‘s probably more a question of what‘s more consistent for her. I also don‘t think beating Sasha in the SP matters as much or will be feasible for her at the moment. Her spins are likely to still suffer from her back and at a National event they‘ll all get similar PCS. Zhenya should focus on skating cleanly, qualifying for RusNats and making the podium, not beating Valieva or Sasha. They have quads and are simply in better shape right now.
