Evgenia Medvedeva

I also want to see those costumes.

I wonder which colors would she choose... I have vision of black jumper with a lot of golden details... I'm sure it will be ICONIC.

How do you guys imagine her costume/s?

I picture Masquerade as a pretty red dress, similar to her black Anna Karenina. And her Alegria just like what you stated black jumper with lots of gold.

well.. SP a jumpsuit ( like Dima) ambiguous .. LP a jumpsuit like a glamours clown

Interestning! For SP I could imagine a beautiful shiny yet dark green color. But would definitely prefer a dress for that one.

“”Two-time world champion Evgenia Medvedeva did not fulfill the selection criteria, since in order to enter the tournament, it is necessary to perform at two stages of the CD.”

are they talking about nationals here. ? 😰
I guess. Honestly, I don‘t expect to see her at all anyway this season. She needs to heal. We can actually be grateful if she‘s able to perform competitively ever again. Back injuries are no joke and hers seems to be particularly persistent.

RusFed's president already said yesterday that they will think about rule changes for injured skaters soon since there are many skaters affected by the two Cups rule. No need to panic yet. Sportsru is just clickbaiting as usual.

well .. I'm worry.. I know that russFed will make exceptions at least for dance .. I don't know if they will do it for zhenya.

On the other hand .. I don't mind if she doesn't go to nationals if that means a full recovery or give her a chance for surgery .. the problem is that she could loose her place in the national team .. and that's what worries me

P.S. well eteri isn't dumb ( she is a very smart coach) .. so maybe zhenya is more sick than we thought and she isn't in condition for competition so she isn't try to compete this year or she already knows that she will be an exception.. Eteri's always knows the best in terms of competition

Javier Fernandez gave an interview while he was in Russia. He was also asked about Zhenya.

"- You have definitely heard about Medvedeva's return to Russia. How correct is this decision?

- I admit that the situation in which we all found ourselves greatly influenced her. You cannot travel, move freely ... We also know that in order to stay in Canada on a permanent basis, you need a visa. This is all very difficult. Many coaches, many academies find themselves in a difficult situation precisely because their athletes are gathered from all over the world.
In the end, she ended up in a place where she was comfortable, where she learned a lot from her former coach. So she's better now. She is a grown girl and a good friend of mine as well. I know Brian Orser is of the same opinion. He will do everything to make her feel good. If it is better for her to be in Russia, then it will be Russia.

- As you yourself noted, now there is a lot of competition in women's figure skating. Young girls who jump quarter jumps win all the pedestals. What, in this case, does Medvedeva have sports prospects? Can she still prove herself?

- Honestly, I do not know. Only she can answer this question. The only thing I know for sure is that Evgenia is a figure skater with a lot of experience. She is literally a woman on the ice. When she began to achieve her sports results, she was still a girl, now she is not.
One of the important challenges, in my opinion, that the figure skating community faces is to keep the women skating mature. However, this is not an easy process. It is difficult for figure skating federations to take a step in this direction, as young girls achieve incredible results, win big awards for their countries. But this issue should be regulated primarily from above. Returning to Evgenia, she presents herself on the ice much better than most young skaters, simply because they are still young, they are just studying their maturing body." (Google translate)

Nice comments from Javier.

Dany G said he didn’t think Zhenya would skate but how come they haven’t withdrawn yet? Is there a chance then that she might actually skate?

I wouldn't take DG's word for truth. We know he is not very fond of Zhenya. Also Rostelecom is in a week and a half, so if they decide to WD they would do it next week for sure. There is still hope.

I‘m not a fan of how Daniil speaks of Evgenia but I don‘t think he‘d lie about this. He‘d have to hide from both Zhenya AND Eteri if he intentionally spread wrong information.

No, for once, what he says actually makes sense.

Zhenya returned to training in late October but even then she only trained on ice for about an hour. That‘s only one month until Rostelecom, where she couldn’t even train fully. Not enough time to prepare, even if she was healthy. Which she isn‘t. So, I‘m pretty sure she‘ll withdraw. I just hope they do it soon, otherwise she‘ll just get hated on again for not giving someone else the chance...

It also depends on how "seriously" they are taking the season. If doing competitions to not lose a lot of experience even if she is not 100% fit. Euros and Worlds will probably be cancelled too, so there won't be a lot of opportunities to compete this season.
