I'm still wishing Zhenya would make the Olympic team. I know that the competition is crazy. But Zhenya is one of a kind.

I wouldn't count her out. She is a true competitor. And I'm totally hopeful. She is one of a kind.I'm still wishing Zhenya would make the Olympic team. I know that the competition is crazy. But Zhenya is one of a kind.

She looks so in shape now.
A young skater in Zhenya's W.E. costume. So cute
She looks like she's back to August's form!

Well, she is playing Kitty after all.It is not known yet if she even was at the shoot, because of the AK show. As I mentioned the main roles are already set and she was not in the cast, so I doubt she will skate the whole show, if she even was at the shoot for the show and I doubt she would skate the whole show in a small side role (because those are the only roles who aren't known yet). She did not wear the same type of clothes on the shoot like the other guys (they wore AK costumes) so it's not known yet if she even was at the shoot, because of AK or for some other Averbukh stuff.
Also Zhenya will go to the Summer Olympics and those overlap with most of the AK show.
So there is no need to panic yet.
It's not the cast for the whole show run time. The Averbukh show account replied in the comments that the cast will likely change at certain points. Past Averbukh shows had 2-3 different casts who would switch after a certain amount of shows. Dorothy also had two different casts for the main stars, Zhenya did the last week of the show and so far there is no announcement which cast will do which show on the ticket sales website. No need to plan a funeral in advance when the dates of her participation aren't even known yet. We don't know if she will do the show for 1-2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks and from what I have read the show will be on 2 days per week. She will definitely not do the show at the end of July/August she is in Japan at that time. Let's be patient and wait for the National Team list or September.Well, she is playing Kitty after all.
Not gonna lie, I‘m pretty heartbroken but I respect her decision. The way she recovered after her illness + surgery to land 3-3 again, even if it‘s just for a show, is still very inspiring.
I think it’s pre-mature though until she announces something - why get in such amazing shape and restore all those jumps if she only plans on appearing in shows… it doesn’t add up imo… I don’t know I really hope she is back competing but I get what you’re feeling since I am also starting to lean towards she may not return after this announcement - hopefully she announces something soon either way.Well, she is playing Kitty after all.

Well, look, I don't want to argue again. I'll just say that I hope you're right. But for me everything - the Averbukh show + OG in August, the fact that to even return to her 2019-20, she'd have to start from the beginning, which means a lot more required training time - points to another non-season. Which doesn't have to be all that bad either, I guess. She got at least 3 new sponsors and participated in a lot of interesting events. She'll never have a shortage of opportunities. It's just that I wish those were in international competitions at the highest level. She's one of the few skaters I keep watching figure skating for, after all. It's not the cast for the whole show run time. Team Moonbear just deleted the post on VK that confirmed Zhenya's participation btw.Well, look, I don't want to argue again. I'll just say that I hope you're right. I think it is the shroud of secrecy that is so apparent with Team Tut that annoys me personally- at least if she was with Brian we wouldn't have to second guess whether she is competing or not. Sigh. I hope you're right about Aver.. I will also support her decision either way - I just hope it is announced soon and not right before test skates in September. The Averbukh account just deleted the post that confirmed Zhenya's participation btw.
They did the same in December when they announced Zhenya would participate in the Fire and Ice show and then an hour later deleted the post.. and it turned out she did not agreee to participate in the show. That is why I said let's be patient until we have official news with dates. Averbukh and/or his team jumps the gun a lot. His team posts announcement after announcement and then immediately delete them .. and it turned out things weren't as people thought.. he gives me whiplash. I will wait until we have the exact dates or news for the shows and not some vague hints by him..
If there are some official news at a certain point I will support her decision either way.
So that means I can keep my hopes alive? Thanks for letting me know. The original Averbukh account just deleted the post that confirmed Zhenya's participation btw.
I was pretty hopeful when she restored the 3-3 so quickly after literally being hospitalized a mere two months before. You don't do that if you're not serious about making a comeback. I didn't think she'd make it to the Olympics again, but I thought she'd give it one last shot either way. She's loved all over the world and in Russia even more so - the audience wouldn't care if she didn't have quads. In fact, the crowd's reaction to her Rostelecom performances in 2019 were unmatched. And it's not like you can't win any medals without ultra-c elements. You just can't win gold and make it to Euros/Worlds/OG. But there's GP stages, Challengers, comps like Winter Universiade, WTT...I think it’s pre-mature though until she announces something - why get in such amazing shape and restore all those jumps if she only plans on appearing in shows… it doesn’t add up imo… I don’t know I really hope she is back competing but I get what you’re feeling since I am also starting to lean towards she may not return after this announcement - hopefully she announces something soon either way.
