I was so upset when she did not receive a gold medal at the Olympics that I completely stopped watching figure skating for the next two years.

I can understand that. You should watch Rostelecom 2019, she was fantastic. And worlds 2019, her roar at the end of her free program is iconic.
welcome to her fanfest, post often. And help with translation is so much appreciated.:hap10:

I know how you feel, I had two experiences like this 1st Yuna Kim and Evgenia ( with Zhenya I suffered more for all the persecution against her)
Now I see the OG as the Oscars :laugh2: The best films and actors don’t always win.

For me, it felt like when Tara Lipinski, a young jumper, beat Michelle Kwan, an established artist who, IMO, skated better at those games. A sport judged partially on subjectivity is never going to be fair. Overscoring is a thing, and so is being dropped by your fed in favor of another skater. I would stop short of saying it's utterly corrupt, but it is clearly not fair. This is a frustrating sport to follow, and I can only imagine what it is like to compete in it.

For me, it's important to not get upset at the skaters themselves when their scores are outrageously high or they win a competition in which my skater's score is outrageously low. They cannot score their own programs nor anyone else's; they all just skate their best, and the rest is up to the judges. Technical panels and feds get my wrath, but I try really hard not to blame the skaters themselves when I feel they are overscored, especially when they beat my favorites. I am not good enough at it that I never gloat when I see them eventually victimized by it themselves, but I try.

Like you, I look at it a lot like the Oscars and just try to enjoy the performances, having my own winners from each competition which sometimes coincide with the actual podium and sometimes do not.

Well, in any case, I do not accuse Zagitova of anything. On the contrary, I am pleased to see today how touchingly love her fans from different countries:).

I find the back-and-forth between fandoms distasteful as far as these little competitions to see who can be louder at a show or who can vote more times with different accounts on some silly poll or something, but at the same time, it's nice that they have fans from all over the world, and yeah, I don't blame Alina for what I felt was too low of a presentation score for Anna Karenina and too high of a presentation score for Black Swan.

I enjoyed both of their efforts at those games, especially the short programs from each of them, and I felt that they were the two best skaters in the world that day, just not in the order awarded. I would like to see a rematch, but the sport is hard on girls' bodies, and the ISU and RusFed both seem to favor fresh young faces at each Olympic games rather than established stars, so we are left to cherish what was one of the greatest figure skating battles of all time. They were worthy opponents. 💪

It's her mom.
I love Evgenia 's answers to the questions. It's so from her heart.
yes, I misunderstood or has she already finished with sports? I know it's hard for her to say "it's over" (maybe for ad contracts she can't say it either) but with the last interview where she says that her back has not improved and this one that she says "there is life after sport" I understand that she will not return.
She has many shows still, the university, her injuries. If she doesn't come back anyway I'll keep seeing her at the shows she does haha and I hope she becomes a producer. Maybe in the future she will be a great coach, she is still very young and has a life ahead of her.

I still think she may come back, but she isn't going to commit one way or another. But she is so busy that it seems less likely. But she knows 22 is young and to close that door is not likely yet. But she stated she is so happy and doing pairs elements is not easy, either.
I think she would be a great choreographer, too. And her fashion sense for costumes , I'd love for her to design figure skating costumes. She has a wonderful future.

In her heart, I think she wants to continue. Whether or not her body will allow that remains to be seen. I think she's just preparing herself mentally and emotionally for what is inevitable, for what will come too soon whether it's now or a season or two later on. I really wanted her to return to the Olympics, but covid and her back just wouldn't allow it. If she can return next season, that would still be great, but if her health won't allow it, she can still skate shows, do commentary, and work in competitive skating as a coach, choreographer, costume designer, whatever. Maybe even composer if she keeps improving on that ukulele.

Haha She could do the entire thing: train the skater, compose the music, create the choreography and design the costume. :dance3:

She is so talented in everything that she can do what she wants. she's at a point in her life that she will let everything go as she has to, she does not make false promises or illusions and I think I will do the same with her return to sport.
I have seen her in her worst moments and now I see her so happy, healthy, living her best life and I prefer that, to her going back to crystal toxicity.
