Favorite Romantic Songs?

We recently had a thread about favorite romantic movies, so how about one on favorite romantic songs?

My favorite moves me to tears every time I listen to it, even though I've listened to it dozens of times! It is by the wonderful young folk singer Joe Crookston, and it's called Dance and Sway. It's not about young love or new love, but about enduring love.

If you'll indulge me, I'll include the lyrics, as I'm sorry to say it's probably not too familiar to most people. I hope Crookston hits the big time someday, because he is not only talented, but has that something extra (no, I don't know or represent him, I've just been lucky enough to hear him perform).

Anyway, here's Dance and Sway:

I tune the fiddle
And I drag the fiddle bow
And I catch you dancing
Over by the back window
You’ve always loved it
Every time I play
And I’ve done it all these years
Just to watch you dance and sway.
Dance and sway, dance and sway.

Your hair is silver
My body’s tired
You’re so familiar --
But I’m still inspired.
We barely made it
Through troubling matters
Maybe we cracked a bit
But we never shattered.
We never shattered, we never shattered.

And the days got lonely
And the nights grew cold
And I buried my dreams
And we got wrinkled
And my strings went rusty
And your bones got sore
But when I drag the fiddle bow
It stirs you still
And you shuffle across the floor.

We prayed for paradise
Well, THAT fell through
But I’m an old man with a crooked grin
Still fiddlin’ slow and watching you.
Watching you, watching you.

I tune the fiddle
And I drag the fiddle bow
And I catch you dancing
Over by the back window
You’ve always loved it
Every time I play
And I’ve done it _all these years_
Just to watch you dance and sway.
Dance and sway, dance and sway.

gio: I LOVE Captain of Her Heart, what a cool jazzy tune. I haven't thought of that one in years. What is it, "Too long ago, too long apart, she couldn't wait another day for, the captain of her heart."

yes Disney was AWESOME! I would have blogged more about it, but had some technical difficulties with my computer so gave up (it also saved my budget as I wasn't spending 10 bucks every other day for internet access lol)

Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling In Love With You

I've Had The Time of My Life........you know the song from Dirty Dancing, it's by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes

Do I love you because you're beautiful? - Rodgers and Hammerstein in Cinderella (Yes, I got the Julie Andrews 1957 version for Christmas - and it's way better than the Leslie Ann Warren one).

LOVE that song, too! And it's on my dad's top 20 list lol

Wow, you guys have all mentioned some great stuff! We've got some diversity, from country to show tunes to ballads and pure sentiment!

That's Amore is such a fun, positive, even bouncy song.

Skamper, Dirty Dancing is definitely one of my guilty pleasures. Actually, just about any dance movie is!

I'm going to have to look up the Julie Andrews Cinderella!
