Anybody besides me succumb to that relentless Ore-Ida ad campaign during US Nats??

My boyfriend ran out and bought five boxes of the darn things. They were the last five boxes (apparently other folks thought they would be good to snack on with Nationals). We had them with regular ranch dressing and chipotle ranch dressing which he made with chipotle Tabasco. And they were awfully tasty with the ladies' free skate. :agree:

Not just during the nationals, but the whole season. Every time the voice would say "I know what you are thinking", depending on how many times I had heard the ad, I would reply with something nasty.

I am not into junk food, but I now I wouldn't buy on purpose. Too much!

Now if it would be Scott Williams in the ad eating those fries, then maybe...

Enquiring minds must know...are they really crunchy out of the microwave? And what bizarre ingredients are included to ensure that they do?
We've been wondering about this for a while now.
Thanks!

I don't usually sit and watch the commercials but boy you cannot miss that one, can you???

And the worst thing about it is, I have to hear my elderly Mother every week when I take her to doctors appts., sometimes more than once in a week...."I told Janet about those Ore Ida potatoes you can put in the oven" (Mom lives with my sis, and by oven she means microwave).

I actually have thought of trying them, but seem to forget each time I go to the store.....so the advertisements haven't sold me enough, I guess, since I don't remember to get them.:p

I watched most of National's at my mom's house this weekend and she said the exact same thing STL_Blues_fan! I told her if two days of the commercial bothered her that much, try putting up with it every other commercial break for an entire season like I had!

This morning I had to take her to the grocery's store and while we were in line at checkout she made a point of showing me how there were no Crispy Fries in her shopping cart out of protest.:p

Well, they are indeed crispy -- IF the box isn't wet when you put it in the microwave. If there's frost on it from the freezer, they don't get as crispy.

There's some microwave-safe substance on the inside of the box that does the same thing as foil in the regular oven. That appears to be what gets them crispy.

Pollyls, you should write to Ore-Ida (a division of Heinz) and tell them that you bought their product after seeing it advertised on the figure skating show. You never know. It might make a difference in their sponsorship strategies.

Here is their web site (click on"Contact Us"):

That's a great idea, Mathman!
I'll try not to gush *too* much. :agree:

I wrote to State Farm, thanking them for sponsoring figure skating and saying (truthfully) that I had just changed my car insurance to State Farm and saved $1000 (AARP stinks).
