Four Nations Championships 2014-2015 Dec 18-21

Just came back from France, where the competitions I am interested in are finished for the day.

I don't normally watch Junior competitions, as I don't like watching young children skating in skimpy outfits.

But I may as well watch what's left of this competition seeing as it's Ice Dance. After all, Senior Ice Dancers tend to be older, so surely Junior ones are too. :laugh:

Like, just look at the Junior GP Final winners...

Like everybody else here, I've seen plenty of routines that have been using music from Carmen. :rolleye:

But that one from the last couple in the Senior Short Dance, Beatrix PIPEK / József KÁLMÁN of Hungary, HAS to be the worst edited version I have ever heard! :eek:

It was a total mess! :eek:

Incidentally they finished last, with only 23.52 points. They are 6.5 points behind their compatriots, Szilvia MAGYAR / Dániel MAJER.

What has happened Ice Dance in Hungary? Like, it wasn't that long ago that Nora Hofmann / Maxim Zavozin were regular podium finishers!

Unsurprisingly, Federica TESTA / Lukas CSOLLEY of Slovakia are leading, but only by 5 points over Natalia KALISZEK / Maxim SPODYRIEV of Poland.

Does anybody know what that is being shown on the Four Nationals livestream now?

It is a ladies singles competition, but I have no idea what it is. Any of the timetables I can find don't have anything scheduled after 19:00 CET (18:00 GMT)

Are they showing a repeat of the Senior Ladies from earlier? Is it maybe a club competition?

The first couple of skaters that were on after I came back to the computer did look very young. But there is no Junior Ladies competition in the schedule.

But the last couple of skaters that were on looked older (late teens), as does the one on now. If there are a variety of ages, it could be that they are repeating the Senior Ladies. I missed the first group and most of the second group, so I can't tell yet if this is it.

There again, it could be the local club that normally uses that rink holding their competitions in conjunction with the Four Nationals. Which could explain both the variety of ages, as well as why it is not in any of the timetables.

I just don't know!

Well, it definitely wasn't a repeat of the Senior Ladies. Because I didn't recognise anybody before the Zamboni came out. If it had been the Senior Ladies, I would have recognised Ukolova and Brezinova.

Plus, if it had been the Senior Ladies, then more Ladies singles skaters would have come out once the Zamboni came in. Instead, we had Men's singles skaters come out.

So, it must be the local club holding their own competitions in conjunction with the Four Nationals.

And based on this assumption, I can say that there are some pretty good ladies singles skaters in Budapest!

Yes, that would explain a lot.

The group of very young girls I saw must have been the Advanced Novice Ladies; then the older teenager girls were the Junior Ladies; and the fellas were the Junior Men.

As I said before, I don't like watching very young skaters. So when the Advanced Novice Ladies were on, I went looking around the forum to see what else has been going on today. But, I watched the older skaters that followed, and I have to say that the entries in both Junior categories looked very promising.

I can understand why had a separate entries/results page (so that the Hungarian Junior Men wouldn't get confused with the Four Continents Junior Men); but I wonder why these competitions weren't listed on any of the schedules.

Anyway, it was a really enjoyable day watching the French and Four Nationals Championships, and hopefully tomorrow's action will be just as good!

Well, I'm all fed and watered after finishing the coverage of the Short Programmes at Italian Nationals, so it is now time for an evening of Ice Dancing in Budapest.

The Junior Free Dance starts in a few minutes, with the Senior Ice Dance to follow an hour later.

For the sake of the local fans, I hope Carolina MOSCHENI / Ádám LUKÁCS continue to do well, because their Senior counterparts aren't going to!

Can't argue with that. Even without looking at the scores, it was pretty obvious that they were the class of the field.

So, I may have been a bit premature yesterday when I was bemoaning the state of Ice Dance in Hungary. Although, when you take them out of the equation, the situation does look pretty worrying.

I'm no expert in Ice Dance, but I thought the 2 Czech teams looked pretty good as well. Not to the standard of Moscheni / Lukasz, but still good.
