Hi everyone, I don't think gaby et guillaume showed up at practices today because of the jet lag, the travel day, etc etc. Do you have any news ?

Tech Panel for Euros 2018 :

Tech Controller: Halina GORDON POLTORAK (POL)
Tech Specialist : Denis SAMOKHIN (RUS)
Assistant Tech Specialist : Francesca FERMI (ITA)
Referee : Garry HOPPE

So does that mean P/C are screwed ??? I mean a Russian and an Italian. Doesn't bode well. I have been worried about this Euros in Moscow and what it can do for their momentum which has been great so far. V/M killed it at Nationals I know it's Nationals but still. What do you all think ?

My opinion is that Euros will be a tough testament of their skills and mental strength, probably the toughest so far this year, for Gabby&Guillaume. I would say there are two options: lesson was learned (from last year) and the judging will be fair (at least comparing to the last year), so if everything goes right, there shouldn't be a problem for G&G to win another european crown. Or this will be another year of European championships full of politicking, extremely low scores and scandals. If that's the case, then it'll be a tough moment for G&G. But, as I've already said, there is an advantage in it - as this is the last competition before the Olympics, they'll test their new improvements and, most importantly, try what it probably will be like in Korea - even one small mistake will cost them the first place.

Anyway, let's be positive. I hope for the best and wish them all the best. I cannot wait to see them again. :)

I dont expect honesty. Russians put their people in technicals panels desperately (look at judge as technical specialist in women field- finland with russian passport LOL ) and they will be trying to put their skaters on highest places as possible with big scores before leaving to Pyeonchang , not callin their mistakes( medviedeva, zagitova) and giving high pcs by second panel. It is obvious
Thank god the technical controller is polish, has she something to say? Or technical specialist is more important?

Be positive:)
The context is not at all the same as last year. Gabi and Guillaume are 16 points ahead of their main opponents (202 against 186 for C/L and B/S), they are unbeaten, their programs are well established ("bien rodés" _in french)
Last year, it was a little more complicated :scratch2:... Sincerely (and I hope), the gap should be quite large (except of course significant error). The panel can not do anything, for the moment this season, the important competitions (grand prix) have been well judged and the notes quite logical (I do not count the national championships:laugh:); the Olympic Games are in a month ... Yes, I think Russian dancers will see their record improve (but not 10 points)
Gabi and Guillaume have to skate as they know how to do, and frankly everything should be fine. (By Friday I could be a little more worried:noshake:)

I'm confident in Gabi and Gui for the rest of the season. They perform every element in their free skate better than everyone else; the depth of musicality, performance and interpretation is beyond everyone else; as are their skating skills; and with regard to the choreography, well, it's just that piece of music to the note, performed on the ice. The short is a perfect programme; and the overall feels so relaxed and fun. My favourite part is the set pattern. How, i don't know. But they make it look like a lark. The tiniest tweaks in the free; practising the step sequences to make sure they get the highest level; and they are completely there. With regard to the judges, there will always be issues one way or another with all judges. Gabi and Gui have done all they can to ensure the judges make the right call on what they do (at Euros and at the Olympics and at Worlds) in how they have attacked this season. (and I have seen that there will be no French judge at Worlds, i seem to recall); and to make sure that a bad call will reflect badly on the judges. I expect good things all round; and thinking of some of the ludicrous judging at various nationals events I'm actually very pleased to being able to watch an Isu event, where the judging is (despite all controversies) of a much higher and more real standard.

I think that there is a Russian and an Italian in the tech staff is funny, because it's between those two countries that war will be here on the ice (and maybe on the panels?)

From the ISU instagram story (only available with the phone app) : they have arrived and got accreditation !

Personnally I'm not worrying for them at all, just I want them to skate cleanly and not leave points. If the season was any indication, why would the judges try to push ITA or RUS like last years ? The difference is a bit too much this time. But just a clean skate really. And confidence !
The Italian ATS was also in the Tech Panel at GP France 2017.

I'm confident they will win without much difficulty. Something about their skating seems to transcend nationality and boundaries, because it's pure art and athleticism at once. Plus, I'm sure if there were any shenanigans, Didier G would be able to head it off. Politicking - not that G&G need it - goes both ways. ;)

I think the exact same, if there was politicking, it is more a question of whom between C/L and the russian teams this time. I'm very confident for this competition, as long as they are clean, because they've looked so well-trained during the GP series and nationals (even with a fall !). And it looks like they have quite some popularity among the Russian skating fans ! :hap10:

It's just me and my nervous/pessimistic self. This season proves way too nerve wrecking for me. Good to see you're all so optimistic. Who is going BTW ? Alain are you ?

Hello to everybody and I wish the best (Gold:hap10:) for Gabriella and Guillaume at Euros!!I just want to say that no matter what is going to happen at Olympics, for me they will always be the BEST! Because they are only 23 years old and they have already won Tessa and Scott:yahoo:, Because they are unbelievable artistic and very dedicative athletes, Because they are so humble and unpretending, Because they have not the promotion the athletes from USA or Canada have however they have come so far and the most important for me is Because they have made me a figure skating fan with all that incredible programs it just happen to see for the very first time on YouTube on 2015...and from then I just fell in love with the sport:luv17:!! So for all these reasons and for so many more…I just wish them to always be healthy and be together as ONE on the ice! Love you:love:!!
