Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Ben Agosto predicted that PC would win gold in the NBC Olympic aftershow. If he’s out there publicly making predictions like that, it’s safe to say it’s in the bag, folks.

Somehow I feel the American skaters/former skaters are just more supportive of P/C.

Hello everyone! I'm a new member too but I adore French Team since Mozart, not since today's night. I'm from Poland so I stayed up in the middle of the night even though I'd got classes next morning. Moreover, I will do the same tonight and I know this is gonna be a very, very hard time for me. I enjoy every post on this topic, so I finally decided to write something. I am very glad to hear that all of you are still believe in them. Can't wait to see them in only few hours!

I´m living in the same time zone and have to go to work as well (kindergarten teacher ... I asked the kids, if we don't ALL should just take a long nap - they didn't agree :scratch2: )

Stay strong and awake for the Free Dance !

Julie, I truly appreciate all your YouTube edits. You have amazing videos and taste, it's always a pleasure finding new ones :clapper:

I will also watch them, the alarm clock I have set 03. 30 at night and the morning to work. I'm very nervous🙏🙏🙏

:o: Thank you Anyasnake !!!

hope you`ve seen them all - even the Sinitsina/Katsalapov montages ;) ;) ( I watched some of them recently and went "what the h*** was I thinking ?!?? But yeah, I´m overall happy with my Gaby and Guillaume montages :)

Welcome citron! I'm pretty new myself, but I never lurked so I had no idea this was such a polarized event/two teams. I also didn't know there was an ignore button but will make use of that now so thanks for the inadvertent suggestion! :cool2:

Haha, well... you're welcome.

It's unfortunate what's happening between the fans. I like Tessa and Scott, honestly they're the most outstanding athletes ice dance has ever seen (imo of course), it's remarkable. That said, my issue with them was and always will be that I rarely feel like watching a dance (except the Malher piece and Pink Floyd which was and absolute breath of fresh air at the time) rather than a performance and also half of time I dislike their musical choices/costumes. Admittedly I was never a huge fan of Meryl and Charlie and yet some of their FD touched me more, came from the heart, and always finished strongly.

Toxic fans should never be an hindrance while still enjoying the "concurrence", I wish Tessa and Scott the best despite my preference leaning towards the ballet dancers. It goes both ways of course, but as some said here their number is huge since T/S have a big fanbase. Better turn them off, most of us watch figure skating for pleasure not nasty fan wars after all.

edit: cause i dont know how to use that quote thing yet

I still have some catch up to do, but I will get there for sure ! :agree:

I kind of like everyone, even if P/C (and Shibs) are my favorites. I agree, Scott and Tessa are truly legendary and nothing will ever change that (which is what makes some of these reactions even more ). They've never been my faves but I've never felt the need to express negative opinions about them, since I think they're great... Even back in the Davis/White ~rivalry days when I also preferred them (and no commentators I heard ever did, lol, so combined with me not going online for reactions I thought I was the only one!). I get we all have our preferences and people will express that but I personally draw the line at people taking what happened to Gaby as an opportunity to score points against P/C for everything from SS to bad performance skills. What happened to her was truly awful and taking someone's misfortune and using it to gloat (especially when your team is in the lead with a WR) and make fun of performance etc. is too much for my fragile heart :noshake:

Well, Dave posted a tweet implying (rather asserting) that the French were not judged fairly, that they were overscored (because their performance was sloppy, and that they were not committed etc.) and that the judges were corrupted - everything basically that V/M fans want to hear. So of course, they all take such an opportunity to spit their venom out on social media. And they're pretty vocal.
I think Dave tries to be fair in general (and unbiased), but he felt like speaking his mind. He thinks V/M deserve that Gold Medal. So yes, I don't think he was being rude - but the stans responding to his tweets clearly are.

He's a professional ****-stirrer who thrives on gossip, at this point I don't even care who and what he likes as long as he promotes this complete lack of respect for the sport and its athletes.

And yeay for team Europe staying up late to watch this, I'm still debating if I should try to get some sleep and wake up for the last two groups or I should stay awake for the whole thing.

The thing is, even with this distraction, their quality shines through. Tanith Belbin was gushing about the patterns they trace on the ice after the program. My non-skating fan but ballet expert friends said they immediately made V/M's movements look heavier and more mundane. So anyone who mocks their skating and performance is simply choosing to lie or knows little about skating.

I re-watched both V/M and P/C today and made an effort of just watching their feet. I'm not a professional, but V/M produce a lot more ice with their attack on the dance (especially when making difficult turns), I remember someone mentioning some time back that that's typically what you try to avoid for good SS.

Yes you normally don't want snow. In Worlds 2016 Kurt Browning said that P/C almost has this respect for the ice, it's so quiet...
You don't often see them having feet positions where they just stay on 2 feet and wait, or awkwardness between steps. Marie-France, Patrice and Romain do an excellent job in the detailling. It's very continuous and connected. I really appreciate the precision.

Cześć :D
I'm glad that I'm not the only one crazy head doing such a thing in Poland :)

Kurt Browning also said that if you listen to their (P/C) very synchronized twizzles, it is as if you are listening to stereo.

Long time lurker, first time poster!

I am a Canadian but I’m kind of embarrassed by the V/M fanfare. P/C do not deserve that treatment at all and I am totally rooting for them to come back and lay down an amazing performance tonight.

Personally I find V/M look like they’re trying a little too hard to sell a program (Scott especially) and look somewhat over choreographed. I also don’t think their fan base would not be what it is if it wasn’t for their being conventionally attractive and the fact that everyone wants to see them rip each other’s costumes off. Im kind of over the whole sexual tension schtick. I’m not denying their talent or that they work really hard but I’m here for the skating, not the shipping, and in my opinion P/C excel at that.

At any rate I really feel for Gaby and think she handled that like an absolute champion. I just really hope she can block it all out for their long!

I am so tired of hearing that V/M deserve the gold.they already have it ok...they achieved their goal long time ago...they are amazing skaters but they wouldnd have come back if it wasn’t for P/C ...sorry for the angry post , i m just heartbroken for them :(((
