Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Thanks! I wish there was a way I could download it. And I also wish I spoke Russian beyond balshoy spaciba. And that someone would point out where exactly they show Anna Cappellini as I fail to spot her...

Try Xtreme Download Manager, I just downloaded it like that :)

I think they were probably referring to the moment at 7:28 when they cut to the top 3 couples at that point. Anna looked like she was a little emotional. (Luca though,) Also, I think I see Gaby's mom waving the flag shortly after they ended! I saw Guillaume's parents in the crowd after their SD as well.

If someone has access to that article, please archive it on archive.is. That way we can all read it!

I am probably too naive, but yes, I do expect that kind of acknowledgement if you pretend to be a decent human being in 2018.
ESPECIALLY on that level. Noblesse oblige.

It's not Scott's MO AT ALL. If anything, it seems he thought PC were overscored in the SD.

I'm not saying this to dredge up bad feelings about VM, but those are his words.

Anyway, thanks for this lovely thread. It has soothed my feelings this week. Can't wait til Worlds!

translation:
The dress unhooked itself right at the start of the program even though most from the audience and the judges didn't even notice but P/C knew.
MFD acknowledged she could not have skated in those conditions but stop everything would have cost 5 points.
GP " I didn't have the feeling I had to choose like telling myself "am I gonna stop?" . Stepping back from all of it now, we can say we're proud of the way we handled it, we didn't skate as well as we could have, but for good reasons. We really fought against it all"
GP " I finally accepted what happened but right there and then it was like a nightmare where you're at school and everyone looks at you while you realize you're naked. The fact my dress opened and I finished somewhat naked is one thing, but as a sportswoman, what really pisses me off is it affected our ability to skate well. The rest doesn't matter."
GC "It's not the kind of moment one wants to be alone. What's special about this sport is that what happens to one happens to the other. Of course it was not my dress which opened but I lived it with her. It's not easy to go through such a moment where we're both weakened by all these emotions and where there is so much media attention. It makes us stronger to be together"

It was not the first time this happened and that's why she was sewed in before every competition. But this was the first time the sewing didn't hold. They have regrets of course.
GP" we should have sawn it better but sewing plus hooks plus snap buttons, you could think it would have been enough."
GC "we weren't careful enough, such is life" "we're not able to go back in time so we don't have many options but to be a bit fatalists. Either we keep wallowing for three weeks, or we enjoy this great silver medal and experience. We try to learn from this mistake. Never will a dress open again in competition."

Bouncing back in the Free:
GC" It was hard yet simple at the same time. It's auto-conditioning, we've learnt to have a certain control on our thoughts." Their mental coach played a great role.
"We never know if we'll be able to do it, we don't have 20 years of experience in senior competitions either. Hence the emotions at the end. We're so proud to have succeeded not to medal but to have overcome this difficult moment."

They just want to remember the Games, those are just Games. They could have ended up fourth too. They could have known a more cruel fate like their coaches MFD and Patch who after a bad fall on their favorite lift couldn't even compete for the free. To see how they managed to overcome that and set up a successful school enables P/C to see past this incident.

After the gala, they'll try to skate the best they can their short in Milan. Then it'll be time to think about the next quad. "We just thought we would let the Games wrap up, we didn't even plan our vacation" said GP. Which type of music to choose from ?
"Roxanne, that would be amazing" said ironically GC (my favorite answer, oh Guillaume, he always cracks me up this one )

"Four years ago, we were coming to Canada, we hadn't consciously planned anything, we were young. Now we have more experience and a more mature vision. It's a new chapter"

I am baffled that this is not the first time it has happened and yet they still went with that costume. Add an extra strap, instead of letting everything fall on one stress point, it was the Olympics, NOTHING that's within your control should have been left to chance.

I don't get what he is trying to say here?

GP" we should have sawn it better but sewing plus hooks plus snap buttons, you could think it would have been enough."

It certainly should have been! What more could they have done - superglued poor Gabi into it and had to cut the wretched thing off at the end of each performance?

Yes, dear, I can just see you two doing that, it's so your style... :p Cheeky beggar.

Saw this in Yuzuru's thread/subforum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMjFAQuB-Tg Is that Guillaume hugging Evgenia at about 1:14? Cute! They must share a similar sense of disappointment even if the circumstances are different!

Actually, Han/Sui, Medveda and P/C all three favorites came desperately close to their dream like less than a point close. I can't say I'm disappointed for Han/Sui because I'm a huge Savchenko/Massot fan but I'm sad for Evgenia and of course well  for Gaby and Guillaume. This is a cute little moment. The only thing is H/S and P/C have definitely a chance in 2022, but it might be much harder for her. With all those young Russian superstars in the making it will be hard to come on top in four years.

Yes, I was very happy for Savchenko/Massot as well (also as a German, haha) but you are right...it was so close for all three (five) and I do hope all get a chance to achieve their dreams in 2022.

P/C have definitely a chance in 2022

Sure, you're absolutely right Cocotaffy, they definitely have a chance but 2022 is soooooo far away and so many things can happen in between. Who knows whether they will compete or not at Beijing 2022 Olys? When they became world champions at the age of 19/20 in Shanghai, we were all excited to see their next season performances. Unfortunately, on August 28th, 2015, Gabriella got terribly injured and the whole 2015 Grand-Prix season expected to be fun and enthusiastic became a nightmare. Would they finally come back or would it be the end ? They finally managed to come back and what a come back! I wrote it 10 times but big thanks to Gabriella who (already) showed extraordinary mental strength.

When one competes at Olys then every small and every tiny detail must be carefully checked and not only once but minimum twice.
Issues with the dress started before the SD hence it's clearly not a bad luck story. It's "at best" the result of serious failures and in such "best case", some people did not do their job, obviously, or they did it poorly which boils down to the same thing. For a Grand-Prix, a story like this one is for sure not acceptable at all but it's not a big drama. For Olys, well... I actually have no words to qualify that.

I have been extremely shocked to read statements that try to dismiss on Guillaume the responsibility of this disaster. How shameful...
Since when skaters are responsible for costumes issues?
