I fully agree with you. This is a season to remember as well as the others.
I am eternally grateful that they do anything at all this season, after the very heavy and ultimately bittersweet last season. They had so many highs, and only one low, but that was a spectacular one. The fact that they are again creating programs, and training so hard to get into a new style and find a new way is simply awe-inspiring. Thank you thank you thank you.
This is why I really hope that if physically possible, they will do a third quad. They have really so much to bring to this sport, I do feel that they will be more impacting than Torvill and Dean. It's impossible to compare because times have changed and T/D did so much for ice dance. Obviously, Chris's impact is still going on, and in a sense, Jane and Chris are continuing their legacy and work through Gaby and Guillaume. Directly and indirectly.
GG have dominated ice dance since Europeans 4 years ago, in spite of V/M's short reappearance. The new regulations are a result of the change that GG brought: they are meant to boost their kind of ice dancing. That is rather phenomenal at their age I suppose. If they can last for another quad after this one, there is no guessing where we end up with it all.
Their RD is plainly spectacular. I really hope they can get the Tango levels right, and if they do, it will be THE program of reference for future TR's. It is already a tango to refer to, even without the full TR levels.
Their FD is not totally wow but it has the absolutely sensational curve lift, and they do really great other stuff in it. It may become totally wow by Worlds, and it is anyway a fully interesting and artistic work that will get its place and necessity in the total evolution of their career.
They are together working, searching, evolving, creating, exploring and performing. When they could have simply taken the year off.
I'm very very very thankful that they do that. It's not just for us, it's for something higher. For beauty, for art, for history.
They're just fabulous.
Let it last, please let it last, just a bit longer.
There's so much to give birth to.
I like the tango (and I'm still unable to decide which Gabriella's dress I like the most) and I'm totally in love with their free dance! Music, choreography, lifts, movements, clothes and EMOTIONS, everything is perfect for me and I feel I can completely relate with them and with their story. Can't wait to see them but unfortunately I'll be in work tomorrow so I won't see them live.
